Omygosh that poor baby boi. Ugh I really love these tense moments because I know it will be so worth it. That's Jui for the chapter. 🖤🖤

ramoth

Omg they're talking!!!

_jessalau

Ughhh I absolutely hate that Andrew is doing the chasing 😩

remi

Andrew is very brave. Despite everything that went down, home skillet still has it in him to talk to Nathan *sighs in love* me and my nervous ass could never

Kat V

This gives me heart anxiety.

GMRKitty

😭😭😭😭 I love how real this feels. Like, how real the characters feel. Their emotions and motivations. And the direction that their story is going makes so much sense. They both hurt each other and now they have to work through that and hopefully it’ll make them better people and a better couple. Thank you Jui for another awesome update 💖💖💖

Andrew 🥹 He’s a good person and deserves the world. I do feel like whatever he wanted Nathan to see in that book, it’s really going to make Nathan reflect on his behavior and choices. Not just towards Andrew, but in general when it comes to romantic partners. I don’t think Nathan is used to people fighting for him.

Gah

Urg our poor little boy has been crushed and shattered! Oh My Heart!

Mariel Castro

I would be mad, they fight cause Andrew cant communicate and he gives a book with a message showing how he still cant communicate?

This is exactly why I haven't been disparaging of Nathan throughout the previous arc. I never really saw him as pressuring Andrew unless "pressure" indicates "lack of constant reassurance." He's always been refreshingly upfront and honest about what he wants and needs. It's confusing when someone you care about is willing and eager to go further sexually but every time you match pace and take it a notch up, you're rejected, no matter how nicely. Regardless, going with Xu-an to his hotel, and then not even telling Andrew about it, is a shitty move, but I can definitely understand why. The conversation he had with his friends explained it perfectly. He felt like he kept failing and like Andrew was, for lack of better words, stringing him along. It must've felt so flattering for him to be wanted and pursued by a big contemporary artist, especially when the guy he was seeing kept rejecting him, and then physically PUSHED him away. But, gosh, just LOOK at Nathan in this episode, and you'll see. He's even paler than usual, and the way his eyes are drawn--they're so empty in every panel, even before Andrew is there. Of course, we're all sympathetic to Andrew because he's clearly going through a lot, which is even clearer after that beautiful flashback, but that's also an effect of us having the insight of Andrew's private thoughts and feelings. We rarely get to directly know what Nathan is thinking and feeling beyond what he says and his facial expressions, but he's also in so much pain right now. They're so fond of each other, and this break-up is killing them both. I can't state this enough-- Jui, this is truly beautifully done. These characters are so real and phenomenally written, and I'm so excited to see how they develop and grow.

I would be so stressed/uncomfortable if an ex showed up out of nowhere at my place of work 🥲 I know it's obviously going to work out for them but I'm still waiting for things to become healthy and non-toxic again

Kiki

Ouch my heart once more🥲 It hurts to see Andrew so slumped. He wasn't even out the whole break 😭 and when I saw the airport.... 😭 I felt the pain. He is really thoughtful 🥹 Going to places he connects with Nathan and even going so far to get THAT specific book 🥹 And I wholeheartedly believe that he actually did not think that far lol although it gave us a funny Nathan antenna moment 🙏🏻😅 I feel like Andrew showing up and telling Nathan, who still seems like he is on defense (which is understandable) - made Nathan think, gave him something new. His face at the end it just seems like the facial expression of someone hearing something for the first time. Especially when Andrew isn't just telling him he will do it, he is asking for it. Apart from that you did a great job to capture their current states in their appearances as well. Nathan seems more tired again, and even looks more closed off with his choice of clothing. And Andrew (who kinda looks like he is glowing, especially with the blushing) doesn't "dress to impress" Nathan, he just gives off a more comfortable vibe like he is fine with going to all the places, telling Nathan what's on his mind, giving him the book, etc. Like he really just wants to keep liking him, if he is allowed. It feels a bit like right now, although both are dealing with the disastrous events, Andrew is the more calm one, the one who is like a step ahead. Like Nathan is the one who needs to catch up now. Andrew just gives off a vibe like he knows now what to do, what he really wants. I can't explain it any better. (And both are honestly looking extra fine in today's chapter!!) Thank you Jui and your Team for the work! 🙏🏻💜💜

Well, Andrew is a student and is meant to be in Nathan’s class (he just skipped and showed up at the end). Mind you if I was in Andrew’s position, I’d see if I could change classes

cha0ticneutral

I could be misremembering but I thought this specific classroom was for the discussion group of an intro class that Andrew wasn't in/had already taken and Nathan had invited Andrew to it? EDIT: I looked back and when they first met Nathan was reading papers from last year's class (including Andrew) not current students, but lmk if I missed something!

TheRealSnickers

Maybe I’m being pedantic, but I think this is Andrew’s own way of trying to communicate. Additionally, there are multiple factors at play. 1) Nathan basically cut things off, which Andrew didn’t want. But Andrew is simultaneously trying to balance the distance that Nathan has set and deal with his own feelings (e.g. isolation and eventually reaching out to say what he wants to say via the book). 2) Andrew is a fantastic writer that got Nathan to initially like him/want to meet him by his written word alone. So he might feel more comfortable expressing himself that way. I just want to point out, that while I think it’s a valid point that verbal communication is important, thats not the only form of communication. Given that this is Andrew’s first relationship, which Nathan now knows after the fight, it’s not something that can be fixed in a short time. But it says volumes that he’s actually trying. People, imo, should be willing to meet each other halfway on communication. In time and with practice he’ll get better, but I can definitely understand the fear of saying something and maybe your facial expression or tone communicating something else that wasn’t intentional. Writing, takes out some of those more complicated, subtle skills.

GMRKitty

YES! All of this ^^^^

VioletDash

Aaaaaaah 😭 my bois I know it will work out but my heart aches till it can be all better again

Maridae

Aww my sweet sweet Andrew! Hold on, I can feel it will get better soon! And Nathan, how dare your hair point at Andrew so angrily! Love that little touch of humour! Keep up the great work Jui, I can’t wait to see how our boys finally figure it out!

Mariel Castro

Yes, i get that, but i would be mad still. Cause It is more complicated.

JoaConstrictor

I just want my boys back together 😪

Shortpockets

Nathan is such a prickly cactus! I hope he gets his head out of his a$$ sooner rather than later.

Morgenish

Oh my heart, I’m holding on but it’s tough. 😞

Charliie Kreitzer

Oh god both our babies are so tired and sad, look at the emo eyeliner on their eyes...

Anne🪷

🥺🥺🥺🥺

Melissa Schwenk

Cannot WAIT to see the inside of that book. Andrew’s writing is what drew Nathan in, it’s what will bring him back!

lou

GAAAHHHHHH

Morgenish

He's not officially in the class but he was stopping by because Nathan asked him to (or he asked Nathan if he could) to be cute since he'd already been in the class once. However, Andrew is still a student, it's not like he barged into the gallery where Nathan works, that's his school too.

Clo

ENOUGH I WANT THEM BACK TOGETHER !!! please 🥺🥺🥺

awkwardlymatt

Honestly it’s been ages since I’ve read it so you’re probably right

J.J 123

It’s so sad that it’s come to this. Even if Nathan likes him he knows to set his boundaries not wanting the same thing to repeat itself.

Brooke Martin

despite that though, it was probably better this way because it’s obvious nathan doesn’t want to talk to or even see andrew so this was probably his best bet in the long run just to communicate with him

Starymora

This is perfect everything you said is right. We never get Nathan internal monologue like we get with Andrews, but with Nathan, we get to see his face expression telling us his emotions.

Dewsler

With their tired eyes, disheveled hair and facial expressions, you can tell this has effected them both and Nathan is taken back by Andrew's direct reaction to his cold shoulder. He's clearly not used to anyone fighting this hard to win him back after he cuts ties and it's a new feeling for him. After reading what's in that book, I think he'll be doing a lot of self reflecting and realize Andrew's the one worth putting in the effort for

PROGRESS

Anarkia

Listen. I can't. I can't. I want them to be a happy cozy couple, like.... yesterday!

Doctor Worm

OUR BOYS!!!! But- I’m feeling optimistic. Andrew is taking more proactive steps towards getting in the drivers seat of his life & he’s MUCH more likely to get closer towards the relationship our boys want if he continues along this path. (& who knows- maybe in whatever he wrote that’s in the library book he’ll spill his heart & we know Nathan is a sucker for crying & maybe it’ll work out like it does in the NSFW comics ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

noirlaner

i just dont like thay fact nathan would literally give into intimacy with other guys even tho theyve dont so much together. youre telling me, that in the three weeks andrew has been preparing for the perfect date, nathan was getting his back blown by other guys???
