Update Notes

Feature: EQ effect block

This effect will obviously make more sense once it's available as track-level effect but for now it's available in block form.

To edit the bands, right-click on the block and select "Edit Frequency Response" or click on the Edit button in the bottom-left. Click and drag on a point to adjust the band. Click on an empty area to add a new band (you can create a maximum of 8.) Right-click on a point to delete the band. Different types of curve can be selected using the button in the bottom-right when a band is selected.

EQ modulation

The EQ block does not have any built-in envelopes, however the bands can still be modulated using manipulators instead. Select a band and right-click on one of the spinner controls in the footer and select "Add Manipulator".

Note that the modulated points and frequency response curve will not move around visually as the song is playing back as I decided that would be far too annoying (though I may add some kind of background visualization in the future.)

Feature: Spectral analysis

You can now view a spectrum analysis of any bakeable block instance by right-clicking on it and selecting [Visualization] -> [Spectral Analysis]. This mode is selected by default for any Blink plugins which declare themselves as "spectral" in nature (just the EQ plugin at the moment.)

Feature: New keyboard shortcuts

You can still "remember" a block instance by hovering over it and pressing the "Remember hovered block instance" shortcut (default: C)

There are two new keyboard shorcuts added in addition to the existing operations. For completion I will list them all here:

  • Paste a copy of the remembered block instance onto the hovered block instance (default: V)

  • Paste a clone of the remembered block instance onto the hovered block instance (default: Control+V / macOS: Command+V)

  • Paste a copy of the remembered block onto the hovered block (default: Alt+V)

  • Paste a clone of the remembered block onto the hovered block (default: Control+Alt+V / macOS: Command+Option+V)

  • (NEW) Create a new copy of the remembered block instance (default: Shift+V)

  • (NEW) Create a new clone of the remembered block instance (default: Control+Shift+V / macOS: Command+Shift+V)

Update: MIDI device rescan button was removed.

Update: MIDI input devices will now be added and removed from the device list automatically when your hardware is connected or disconnected.

Update: Can now click on the clipping indicator on the track volume control and the master volume control to reset the animation.

Update: Amp manipulator offset envelope now has a Min slider and the default range is now -infdB..+6dB

Bugfix: Crash on sample override operation if the source sample came from the input buffer.

Bugfix: Crash when committing a sample-override operation with a sample that was dragged into the project from the sample browser.

Bugfix: Possible crash on project load if it contains any clone-repeats.

Bugfix: Exception thrown if "bounce-in-place" or "macro-in-place" shortcut is pressed when there are no block instances selected.

Bugfix: Possible exception thrown when attempting to bounce a manipulator.

Bugfix: Playback shortcuts may be incorrectly handled by the input panel even when it's closed.

Bugfix: Blocks don't snap to tempo guide points if the tempo guide is off the left edge of the visible workspace.

Bugfix: Tempo guides are not positioned correctly when the tempo guide is off the left edge of the visible workspace.

Bugfix: Tempo guide notches don't immediately disappear when the block is deleted or the track is minimized.

Bugfix: No history point is created when dropping new samples into the project from outside the blockhead window.

Bugfix: MIDI device remains active after unchecking it.

Bugfix: Waveforms still render in stereo when a mono channel mode is selected.

Bugfix: Waveforms don't update immediately in response to manipulations which should affect their shape.

Bugfix: Amp manipulator offset envelope doesn't default to the correct configuration.

Bugfix: "Min" and "Max" envelope spinners don't reset back to their default values when double-clicked.

Bugfix: Master volume control doesn't reset back to 0db when double-clicked.

Bugfix: Blink plugin icon doesn't update when hotswitching.

Bugfix: The containing folder of the most recently-opened project is not remembered the next time the "open project" dialog is opened.

HI, thanks for the update, as a feedback, it shows the "failed to initialize" message failed to load libblockhead.dylib here, on OSX 15.7.9; I tried also with "open with rosetta" box ticked

colugomusic

Thanks for letting me know! I will have to investigate tomorrow as i'm quite tired now. I think I must not be properly packaging the libraries that are required for the new spectral analysis feature.

Herr Spiel

Yeah got the "failed to initialize" too, just so you know :)

slowgaffle

Yeah, cant run without libblockhead
