Hi everyone, for those I haven't already see in a livestream, I want to wish you a very happy new year! From the 28th December I was back at work but quite happily so. I have some projects I'm working on that I'm really enjoying and January feels like a great time to get your head down and stay at home (in my opinion anyway). I'm writing this as the afternoon fades away and snow is on the forecast. It's meant to snow all night and because I dont have anywhere to be, I'm relishing the thought.

Christmas Presents 1

One of my best friends has been taking pottery classes this year. I casually mentioned I'd be very interested in a palette. It was a real highlight of christmas day to open up a parcel of a palette and two water pots with my initials on! I haven't stopped using the palette, I love it so much!

Christmas Presents 2

Father Christmas also bought me a Bob Ross daily desk calendar which gives me a painting or a lovely motivational quote from the man himself each day. I'll try to include the image I reveal each Monday.

Christmas Tree Pavlova!

We hosted this Christmas and I was heavily influenced by a Christmas tree pavlova I saw on instagram. I got my niece and my sister involved. We modified the recipe to add drizzles of white chocolate, pistachio paste and chopped pistachios on each meringue layer but it was an absolute triumph! We'll definitely do it every year we're cooking alongside the traditional Christmas pud.

Down time 1

Ant gave me my first ever lego set: An American Office Diorama. I can't wait to start playing with it. Lego completely passed me by as a child so I'm excited to try as an adult, It's so interesting that it's taken hitting my late thirties to find joy in seemingly childish things. I've spent a lot of time working, time to balance things a bit.

Down time 2

A few years ago I bought a Nintendo Switch. I'm not a gamer by any stretch of the imagination but I LOVE a bit of Mario Kart. I forget I have the console all year until Christmas comes around. THis year was no different and I'm enjoying my short but intense career as a racing card riving dinosaur. I've been trying to work out what's the next level to unlock!

Mini Flowers

I have finally found the time to do a series of miniature flowers. These are going to appear all over my social media platforms as short form videos. All seasonal and all quick and easy. Enjoy!

Simple wreaths

I painted a lot wreaths at the start of my watercolour career. I used to make them far too complicated. All these years later and I'm enjoying these simple little ones. This will be a short form tutorial in the coming weeks on my social media platforms and Youtube shorts.

We are starting the 2025 watercolour challenges with a lovely building painting. Le Vin Perdu is a charming restaurant in a historic Devon town called Ashburton. The seemingly simple exterior provides plenty of interesting watercolour techniques so we are beginning a 3 week challenge to draw and paint this this week! This will be for Sweet Pea, Wild Rose and Cherry Blossom tiers.

The finished result which we'll reach at the end of the month!

This week on Youtube 1

This time last year I painted a hugely popular skiing scene on Youtube. Well the skiers are back on the slopes for 2025!

This week on Youtube 2

I'm all about comfort and pleasure in January this year so we're painting things we love. For me, a cup of tea is high on the list of loves and nice mugs and cups are constantly inspiring. This tutorial is great for practising your glazing.

Top Secret!

I can't tell you much about the last two images but they're part of a big project I'm working on!

Will you release a full video of the mini flowers? I’m being drawn to flowers these days and would love to recreate these! ☺️ I attempted your ranunculus piece yesterday and it brought me so much joy!

Those little videos are really the full tutorial but I’ll see if I can do a longer cut just for patrons

These are all fabulous. I am hoping the last two paintings are clarion call heralding a new de Winton book.

Happy new year Harriet 🙌 I really enjoyed hearing your Christmas and holiday stories and looking forward to all the new painting projects coming up 👩‍🎨🎨🥰

As a newbie I’m looking at trying small to start with so those miniature flowers look ideal. Looking forward to improving my watercolour painting this year!

I just paid for a one year subscription. I am having trouble navigating the site. Is another member willing to Google Meet with me or FB Messenger with me to guide me through? My name is Mary and I am a 60 year old woman. Much thanks!

Oh, what a super way to begin this new year---paints, flowers, tea! Thank you, Harriet!

Hi Mary, welcome! I'm very happy to give you a walk through at some point if you like.

Welcome Marie! At the moment the mini flowers are quick tutorials on social media but it sounds like there is an apetite for a slightly longer cut so I will see what I can do.

Happy New Year Harriet! Loving your camera rolls and the sneak peaks of all the creative things you are engaged in and bringing our way on Patreon & YouTube!

Thank you. I am a Sweet Pea but none of the links will open, for example the building drawing attachment. I'm using a Samsung tablet, freshly RESTARTED.

Ah that one is my fault... I uploaded the post by mistake as it's not meant to go live until tomorrow. that's why it wont open. I have to put that one down to first week back in january making an error! That post will be up tomorrow at 9am GMT as it is meant to be each week.

Hi Harriet, I love these photos from your camera! You have me thinking I should play with Legos! My grandson is a fantastic Lego maker and I might need something here that he would “help me” construct. He’s far more advanced than I am at 9years old!

Kathy

Hi from the USA. This is my first interaction with Patreon and I’m not really sure how it all works. I’m copying my original message to you here because I can’t find where to message you privately on Patreon 😬. “I saw your post today painting tiny flowers and got excited that you might be offering a watercolor class. If so, where can I sign up? Also, I have done your watercolor advent calendar for the past two years and absolutely love it. I enjoy painting small but I’m not good at drawing so I appreciate your instruction in that regard as well. I was wondering if you had ever thought of doing an advent-style format for each season? Not necessarily a calendar but a page of daily paintings related to each season. I think it would be fun” and my second message to you “I just joined your Patreon (daisy) and subscribed to your YouTube channel but I’m not sure how to access the three things I have access to in the daisy level Patreon. How do I find your camera roll, videos, etc.?” And, are the videos you post on YouTube different from the videos provided to Patreon members? It’s a lot, I know and I apologize for not being well versed in technology. Thanks Harriet!

Hi Harriet! Happy New Year from Sunny California! I am loving this bit of the Patreon posts and all the insights you give of every photo! I love Lego! I always have. And as an adult I love the more detailed sets! You should check out the modular buildings, they are packed full with tiny meaningful little details! and maybe we can paint them too! Cheers to a year full of inspiration, peace and good Pavovlas!!

Jane Jackson MBE

where can I find he short video of miniature flowers?

de Winton Paper co.

Hi Jane, it’s on my to do list for the weekend to start doing new edits for the patrons! This wasn’t something planned beyond just doing the little social media videos so you’ll need to have patience with me x

de Winton Paper co.

Hi Kathy! Patreon can take a little getting used to but you are so welcome! My tiny flowers on social media were initially just intended to be very quick videos and I was encouraging people to head to my youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/@deWintonPaperCo where I have lots of longer form videos on such flowers, you just need to type the flower you want into the search on the channel https://www.youtube.com/@deWintonPaperCo and you'll find them. However they have been so popular I'm going to sit down tonight and do longer edits of those little videos just for my patrons so you will start to see them here on the patreon feed.

de Winton Paper co.

Never apologise, new tech is always a bit daunting. All the youtube videos are different to the Patreon tutorials I do. The vast majority of the patreon tutorials are accessible on the sweet pea tier and above x
