Hi everyone, I'm writing to you on the first day of freedom, having handed in my book draft yesterday! Welcome to all of our new members, this feature is a little rundown of my creative week, in and out of the studio.

A night away

In the final week of writing the book I had a day and night away to focus purely on editing. The change of scene was an amazing boost to get me over the line and I'm so excited to have the book handed in at last!

I wish my view from the laptop was always this grand!

French editions

My books are translated into a number of foreign languages, the publisher is kind enough to send me a few copies to add to my collection. here is 'draw your way' in French. It makes me laugh to think that a book with so few words as this one even requires translation! I love seeing the different covers created by the foreign publishers.

This week on Youtube

Talking of books, I like to get 'A Year of Watercolour' out on Youtube each January to remind us all to open it up and get insppired by the seasons. I think we once did a nest tutorial just for Patreon, here is a new one for Youtube!

Bird watching

We had such a great response to last week's loose watercolour bird painting we had to do the woodpecker who we also caught on camera! This is Tuesday's tutorial

This week on Patreon watercolour challenges.

We've spent three weeks working in great detail on Le Vin Perdu. Now is the perfect time to try it loose! I will talk you through how to try this alternative painting style on Wednesday (Sweet pea and above).

Congratulations on turning in your next book Harriet! I loved painting that nest live with you in August 2023 (had to look back in my camera roll). Looking forward to finishing Le Vin Perdue and then doing the loose version. Clever idea. 🤍

It seems like it when you feature the highlights! Trust me, every other moment I've been chained to my desk finishing this book!

What a beautiful hotel! I can't imagine how gorgeous it must be in the spring when everything is green and beginning to bloom. Congrats on the finish of your next book!
