Hi everyone, how are you? I found myself finally able to relax into a post book writing February! Here are a few images that sum up the last weeks creativity.
I am in love...
...with a travel watercolour set from Charvin Arts. Not only is the tin pretty and the paint colours...there is a hidden water receptacle in the back of the tin that you can pour out (you can see the bottle top on the left. Dreamy!
Trip down memory lane
It's been over a decade since I last visited the area I grew up in in Bristol. It's funny how you just don't appreciate the simple things when you're younger...I lived on the edge of a lovely highstreet with a butcher, fishmonger and plenty of other lovely independent shops and restaurants. I paid it a visit on Wednesday last week and amazingly, most of the shops are still there all these years on. I realised this place has been my ultimate inspiration for painting shopfronts!
A pocket of sunshine
Crumble is doing is best attempts at sun worship in an otherwise dull February.
Sunshine on the page
If the weather isn't good enough outside, we can paint it instead. This is the piece created from the Cherry Blossom Livestream this week. You can watch the recording back on Patreon, just edit your membership to be in the Cherry Blossom tier. The theme was all about lifting and masking paint and how that can help us create effects that watercolour would struggle to do. We looked at rainbows which was a request on this month's You Choose Youtube.
Crumble on the page part 1
Crumble made an appearance in a new corporate commission this week! I need to paint a generic dog and he was happy to oblige. This is once I had painted him with a series of brown tones...
Crumble on the page part 2
The second photo is after some red and orange glazes over the top which enriched his lovely coat so beautifully. It's a handy reminder that a piece might seem finished but it's worth having a think about how a glaze can elevate it further.
