Hi everyone, we are making the most of the barren, wintry landscapes of the Northern Hemisphere and trying out some painting with negative space. It looks simple but is the kind of thing that only improves with experimentation and play (notice I didn't say practice!)

You will need:

Cold Pressed Paper (assorted pieces)

Colours I used: Paynes Grey

Brushes I used: One stroke 1/2/ inch, large round size 12, pointed round size 8,2.

I would love to see lots of experimentation and dont forget to share your paintings in Discord and on Social media.

Lovely! Would this be considered “atmospheric”?

Thank you so much for stepping back and offering this uncomplicated assignment! Both 2024 & 2025 were years of loss and overwork and was unable to complete even one assignment last year. I want to get back to my paints 🥹 thank you!!!!

I’m so sorry you’ve had a tough few years. Gentle painting projects like this sound ideal

This is my first watercolor challenge here on Patreon and it looks fun! It should be really helpful in terms of exploring consistency of paint, use of negative space, and holding back. I think I have a tendency to overwork my paintings and often feel a need to keep fussing with them to get something ‘right.’ If I can get myself to use a very few brush strokes, this should be a good stretch for me. I should put a note by my painting station reminding me to not overthink or overwork my paintings. 😄 Thank you, Harriet!

I've a question...which Payne's Grey does everyone use? Sometimes I notice my Daniel Smith PG isn't as "blue" as some I see.

Hi Harriet or fellow members.... I suddenly lost access to all the videos... it keeps saying I need to sign in ... I tried many times .... I'm not very tech savvy, any advice?

I tried my phone and laptop both failed. But I can watch YouTube videos no problem. Only patreon not working.

Sorry everyone... my daughter resolved the issue for me 😀
