This is our final session on negative space landscapes. I thought it might be interesting to zoom in a little bit and look at Oyster Catchers in the shallows. I've attached a few reference images. Have a bit of fun, playing around with the tutorial! You will need:

Cold pressed watercolour paper (mine is 8x6 inches)

Brushes I used: Range of pointed rounds

Colours I used: Paynes Grey, French Ultramarine, Ivory Black, Pyrrol Orange.

Enjoy!

I really enjoy this kind of tutorial. I can relax with this tutorials. It's like you said, a kind of warming up for the next level. Thank you Harriet.

Not sure where to submit this request but I would love to have more “bird” tutorials, simple birds to more complex. We’ve covered complex birds such as the starling. I really enjoyed the “seasonal” pieces that included plants, flowers, animals all in one compilation piece. I’m just so happy to be able to wade back into painting and simpler tutorials make that possible. I so very much appreciate your heart for your students/fellow artists! Thanks for all you do!
