Hi everyone, welcome to You Pick, We Paint! This is where you can make suggestions for themes and topics that will inform the content I put out over the next month. Last month your suggestions featured in Youtube tutorials, on livestreams and social media reels!

It's time for you to submit your suggestions for April by commenting below.

These suggestions will inform my content across all platforms and formats (which will be outlined in the monthly bulletin) relevant for choosing topics to paint on Patreon and on my Social Media reels. I try to include at least 4 of your suggestions for the month. Before commenting please read the bullet points below:

Results will be posted in the April bulletin which is published at the start of the new month

First check on my Youtube channel if your suggestion has already been covered.

I am more likely to choose seasonal ideas.

A lovely garden house 🙂

Myra Oakes

I would like to paint an architectural piece, maybe the beautiful estate you showed earlier. You could choose something that teaches shadow and light and how to use contrast. Thank you for valuing our opinions. I have started to enjoy your style as I search for my own.

Kristin

Would love to try a garden in a rain shower.

Katherine

I would love baby birds 🐣

Jen

How about Maj hong tiles. It’s an anytime idea but there so many beautiful tiles and mats. The possibilities are endless.

Susan Hammitt

Yes, my goal is to learn to paint buildings so any helpful examples would be wonderful. Perhaps a fairly simple one and then one that is more elaborate. I know you have other examples but more are better.

Susan Hammitt

A greenhouse. Or a water garden.

Myra Oakes

I think architectural design teaches so much about contrast and value, the painting could be simple subject. Adding water and greenery brings in a whole new dimension. Water is a subject unto itself.

Julie

We have a family of long tailed tits visiting the garden at the moment, would love to paint them.

Ann

Magnolia tree. April showers. Greenhouse. Tulip field.

Carina 🌸

Growing stages of some flowers, like magnolias and tulips. May be you have more lovely ideas about it.

Uta

Stork(s) in a nest on a half timbered house roof. I have seen a pair of nesting storks recently. They were so lovely. Or, as they are back in April, arctic terns. Or a Beatrix Potterish animal scene.

Erin Berlin

A forest fairy garden/fairy house complete with moss and shrooms

Beth

April scenes…watering can and trowel near a puddle in the garden? Raindrop on a leaf…with a butterfly nearby?

BeeDub

A lovely spin off of the recent ballet inspired hangout could be flamenco dancers which feature prominently in the Spanish Seville April Fair celebration, including traditional casetas (vibrantly colored tents); a glass of ‘rebujito’ and plate of olives or nuts - this is a popular sherry based beverage typically served with ice & mint during the fair

Sarah Pace

I’d love a series of vegetables in season from the garden. Peas, cauliflower, kale, broccoli, carrots, radishes, rainbow Swiss chard, etc. Some varieties can really be so beautiful and colorful like chioggia beets. 🫜

Krithiga Gopalan

Or the 4 arts together( music, art, dance, drama)

Beth

My birthday is in April and I asked for your book !🎁📖🎨

Marie

Sunshine, showers and rainbows

Caterina B

A child or person walking through a flower field or forest with their pet.

Heather Karstens

Lupines (inspired by the children’s book “Miss Rumphius” by Barbara Cooney about a woman who travels the world having adventures, then returns to live in a house by the sea and plants lupines to make the world more beautiful). They are somewhat similar to delphiniums, but not the same.

Susan Ing

I think Spring fairies would be lovely. Or a wild garden with gnomes. Or birds such as geese with goslings in or next to a river/ lake.

Beth

Geese and goslings🩷

Gillian Gray

I would love to see a beautiful English countryside or even something inspired by the Cotswolds which I visited as a girl and was enchanted by. I am just starting my watercolor journey and have truly loved your work!

we've got some really lovely countryside cottages and scenes both on Youtube and here on Patreon but I do love this topic

hey Beth, we have a few raindrop tutorials already on youtube you can try

Jenny

I would love to paint a beautiful ornamental cherry blossom tree . They look magnificent in April and May.

NickiV

I love the seasonal nature theme. Garden ideas from vegetables to florals. As basic as leaves, tomatoes on the vine, etc…

Anne Ridley

Magpies and starlings on the lawn – there are not here at the moment
