Hi everyone, it's been a very light, bright and airy week for paintings, it must be the clocks changing and all the light!
At the Ballet
You requested some ballet themed painting and we had a great session painting ballet dancers in lots of different poses (and with different time limitations to free us up) in the watercolour hang out. You can watch the screen recording back here any time (Wild Rose and Cherry Blossom tier)
Another book deadline
This drawer is piled with pages of paintings for my new book. I hit another milestone and handed in the second batch this weekend! I celebrated with an almost entirely work free weekend. It was glorious to get out in the garden and tackle the ivy and clear up all the fallen leaves. I cant wait to sit out there when it gets a bit warmer. Book work is not complete until mid May but it's important to celebrate the little wins along the way!
A creative discovery

I used to be a modern calligrapher (as part of my wedding stationery service). WHilst I dont teach it any more I still have my supplies and I was intrigued to try adding a few sratchy, scribbly lines to my Youtube paintings this week. My calligraphy pen is a straight speedball style holder with a Nikko G nib (nothing particularly exciting if you're into calligraphy) but it has opened up a whole new style that has given lightness and energy to my paintings which I love! My pen just happens to be from Tom's Studio, long before I started collaborating with them this year.
The great news is you can get 10% off their products here (affiliate link) using the code DEWINTONPAPERCO
I'm quite excited to have dusted off my calligraphy supplies and to incorporate them into my art.
An Old Favourite with a New Approach
Every year I paint Spring flowers on Youtube and a year off is just about long enough to have found a new source of inspiration to paint them. This year I've been really keen to explore a lighter and more expressive feel to my flower paintings. Just like the cherry blossom tutorial this week, I used my calligraphy pen too add scribbly fine lines. I really love it and am keen to try more of this style.
