Hi everyone, I have been asked to provide a few testimonials from my workshops/retreats for a new project. I was wondering if you have ever been on a workshop/retreat with me and would be happy to write a few lines could you do so either in the comments below or in a direct message. Thank you!

When I attended Harriet’s Scotland retreat I met new friends from many places that share my desire to learn more about watercolor. Harriet is an encouraging and very talented teacher. A few of us decided to do tiny 2x3 paintings once a week and get on a what’s app call and chat. We live in 2 different time zones. We are all different personalities with stories of our own but we have connected because we enjoy painting. 3 of them just came to visit two of us in the capital of the US for 3 beautiful days.. I feel very grateful for each of them and that Harriet introduced us to one another!

What a wonderful week I spent in Scotland with Harriet learning new techniques and perfecting old ones. Harriet is such a warm and encouraging teacher and took time with each of us to work on areas we felt needed improvement. From the accommodations to the food to the classes it was a top notch experience and I would highly recommend it to painters of all levels.

The Scotland retreat at Rachel’s Farm was an exceptional experience; from the welcome reception to the closing dinner everything was top notch. The best part was having Harriet with us from morning to night always making herself available for private sessions, answering questions and offering guidance to each of us with our different levels of watercolor experience…all in addition to the group painting sessions. We learned new techniques and improved old ones while experiencing the breathtaking scenery of the Scottish countryside. New lifelong friendships were made with some of the most wonderful lassies I’ve ever met. Harriet is a genuine good soul and took the time to get to know us individually. I highly recommend her retreats, so “grab your paints and let’s get started”!

I absolutely loved spending the day painting with Harriet at Le Vin Perdu. Everything was thoughtfully organised and structured in a way that helped us get the most out of the day, while still feeling calm and relaxed throughout. Harriet is really encouraging and such a wonderful teacher. The food was excellent too, which was a lovely bonus! It felt so different from painting along online, and being able to share the experience in person with such a warm and friendly group of people made it even more memorable.

I had the honour of going to one of Harriet’s Scotland retreats last year. Basically what you see is what you get. Harriet is such a generous soul - she oozes talent but more importantly makes you feel ‘you can’ - whatever your ability. I’ve followed her for a number of years and have done one retreat (and now signed up for a Le Vin Perdu session later in the year) - such a warm, genuine individual with oodles of talent and love of her craft.

I attended Harriet’s workshop in March 2026 at Le Vin Perdu in Ashburton. The venue was a fabulous place for a small well attended group of all abilities. Harriet is a warm, generous and inclusive teacher who inspires and encourages you to have a go. I left the workshop feeling more confident and excited to keep trying. The group was really friendly and encouraging, we all enjoyed delicious food and coffees throughout the day. Would I attend another workshop- absolutely! Thank you Harriet for your inspiration.

I have attended two of Harriet's workshops. The first, at River Cottage, was a wonderful experience, I had such an enjoyable time, and went home feeling both energised and reassured that I am an artist. When her workshop at Le Vin Perdu was organised I think I was first to respond! Again, Harriet made everyone very welcome and individually talented. The venue was super, we were pampered and the food was amazing! I have booked for the next workshop at Le Vin de Perdu and am thoroughly looking forward to Harriet's inspiring tutorage and meeting more like-minded individuals.

They sound wonderful and I wish I could attend . Sadly they have been a bit far away for me but hopefully one day !

I have enjoyed Harriet’s tutorials for several years and when I learned about the Scotland workshop in fall 2026 I jumped on it! Then I started to worry. I was anxious that I might not be able to keep up with the others at the workshop. THEN I worried that perhaps the workshop would be an extended tutorial with Harriet telling me which brush to use and which colors I needed to mix. Nothing could be further from my experience. Harriet gently started us with some basics and then encouraged us to push ourselves to look, choose and interpret with her guidance. The location was idyllic, the food….exquisite, and Harriet worked tirelessly to be available to us for long hours of the day to guide and answer questions. Field trips to paint plein aire were well planned and wonderful opportunities to grow and learn. Harriet is generous with her knowledge, her time and the supplies to make everyone’s experience pleasant and well worth the cost of admission. I WILL look for an opportunity to join her workshop again!
