Hi everyone, you will have seen this quick cut tutorial on social media. As per usual, Patrons get the longer version! I didn't draw this but I've listed pencil and erasers if you want to put in your stem and flower centre as we often do.

This is part of the June Rose Series, as a concerted effort by me to get comfortable with painting all kinds of roses. They are such a popular flower whilst being so varied in style. I get asked to teach them often so this felt like a great challenge for me...and for you!

You will need:

Cold Pressed watercolour Paper

HB pencil

Hard and soft erasers

Colours I used: Pyrrol Orange, Yellow Ochre, Green Gold, Sap Green, Aqua Green, Deep Sap Green, Paynes Grey

Brushes I used: Pointed round size 8, 4, 2, 0, 2/0

It really would have been perfect if they had named it Marilyn MonROSE! 😂

not one of my favourite tutorials, a bit difficult to follow the thought process of it as it is more a drawing than painting. I miss the paintings that are a construction of elements and anchoring like you used to do. but maybe its to difficult to do with a rose. Looking forward to the next roses!!!

Yes these are a series that follow my exploration of roses. Not all are really ‘tutorials’ as such so you would be right not to love it if you’re looking for the usual structured tutorials that I do every week in the watercolour challenges and on YouTube

A beautiful rose as always. It's been great to experience the top tier membership for free for the week to see what is available at the different levels to see what's available. It's so tempting to stay at a level where the challenges are available, as the breakdown foot those are so useful. But I think I'll end up on one of the more basic memberships for my budget, but see if I can treat my self one month a year to upgrade just for the month. Would that be possible?

Thanks so much for your lovely comment Sivi. I'm so glad you've had a chance to see what's going on on the top tier and your support is so appreciated wherever you end up x

My favorite flower, such a challenge to paint! I’ve loved this series and the top tier membership trial. I will continue it!
