Hi everyone, you will have seen this quick cut tutorial on social media. As per usual, Patrons get the longer version!

This is part of the June Rose Series, as a concerted effort by me to get comfortable with painting all kinds of roses. They are such a popular flower whilst being so varied in style. I get asked to teach them often so this felt like a great challenge for me...and for you!

You will need:

Cold Pressed watercolour Paper

HB pencil

Hard and soft erasers

Colours I used: Permanent Rose, Organic Vermillion, Pyrrol Orange, Opera Rose, Green Gold, Sap Green, Aqua Green,

Paynes Grey

Brushes I used: Pointed round size 8, 4, 2, 0, 2/0

Very often, I sit down at my desk with the intention of painting as well as I possibly can. I try to follow your instructions to the letter. I take my time, sketch the subject carefully in pencil first, and even test my colours to make sure they match yours. And yet, even when I do my very best, it’s still not quite the same! Your roses look so natural and delicate, with such subtle colours… they are simply perfect. What you create in 30 minutes often takes me an entire afternoon! Still, I have to say that after following you for the past three years, I have improved so much, and that’s what really matters. At over 70 years old, I’m not aiming for masterpieces or a career as an artist. I simply want to enjoy myself, and thanks to you, I have discovered a hobby that I truly love. A heartfelt thank you for sharing your talent and for bringing so much joy and inspiration to so many of us.

Bonjour Harriet, Comment puis-je trouver la méthode pour traduire les commentaires en français ? S'il vous plaît. Merci ☺️

Hi Veronique, for these little portrait orientated videos I think you will need to download some auto translate software

this rose really is the most tricky in my opinion. I'm just so glad that you can see how far you've come. We all (myself included) are on a constant journey of learning - I still find roses very hard!

Ah! Thank you so much. I'll try to find that software that will allow me to better appreciate your valuable advice. I really like your personality, your watercolors, and your videos. I'm a little sad that I don't always understand. Thank you for your attention.

I am new to this membership. Could you tell me the brand of watercolor paint you use for the recommended colors listed in each project? Thank you!
