Hi everyone, summer temperatures have arrived in the UK and we've been up early gardening over this bank holiday weekend before it gets too hot to be outside. Stay safe in the sun and drink lots of water!

Roses

Our roses have been blooming faster than we can document so I wanted to start the camera roll with our pride and joy: The yellow climbing rose is called 'Pilgrim' and the the orange (which goes pink and yellow too) is aptly called 'Sunset'. It's no coincidence that I've photographed them here...read on for an exciting new painting series!

Fashion, Friends and very Fancy Food

I was treated by two of my best friends to an amazing day out in London last week - the day after my Chelsea Flower Show visit. We went to see the Schiaparelli exhibition and felt very strongly that we preferred the original work by Elsa Schiaparelli from the early part of the 20th century to the new 2016 onwards collections by Daniel Roseberry. It's well worth a visit, if you enjoy the art of fashion. We then went on to have afternoon tea at Sketch London which is serving a tea to celebrate 100 years of AA Milne's Winnie the Pooh. Hence our photo set in the hundred acre wood! I'll be sharing a video of this experience on social media on the 10th of June.

Turkeys!

We had a really fun - and rather silly - watercolour hang out painting Turkeys this week! You can watch the recording back here.

New Retreats to Announce!

You will be the first to find out where we are heading next! I have two retreats for Spring/Summer 2027 which will be announced to you on Thursday (open to rest of the world on Friday). One more for the autumn will be announced in a few months time.

Tuesday on Youtube

You requested an Alpine Helianthemum (aka Rock Rose) so that's what we're painting on Youtube on Tuesday. This is a great flower for beginners to try but also good for anyone to practice their glazes and layering.

Folded Leaves on Patreon

Another You Pick We Paint request: Folded Leaves. This is what you're painting with me on Wednesday's Watercolour Challenge!

June Rose Series

I've taken it upon myself this bank holiday weekend to really practice rose painting. It's something I don't love because it's hard to get consistent results. It turns out, all you need to do is practise! Who Knew!? I will be launching the June Rose Series on the 1st of June with quick videos on social media accompanied by full length versions on Patreon for Daisy Tier members and above. I've tried to find a range of rose varieties that each offer a different challenge. I hope you find them helpful, and in the meantime, we have some lovely rose painting tutorials already on Patreon. Just search 'rose' in the home page search bar and you will find them!

your roses are amazing. I finally gave up on doing any roses except for container roses. Between the deer eating them or the extreme cold here in Minnesota it was a constant battle with little reward. The joy and agony of gardening :).
