Hi everyone, I hope you're enjoying the June weather. After lots of work our garden is looking magnificent and we're enjoying having friends over for lots of BBQs!
Surf Shack!
Last night we had our monthly Cherry Blossom Livestream class where we painted a surf shack, as requested on You Pick, We paint. It was a lovely session and I was so impressed with your paintings! I cant wait to see more of them when you upload the pieces to Discord. It's so lovely for everyone to see that they're painting with a community in these livestreams by posting your work on Discord. The other BIG news is our new little Obsbot camera. Up until now I have recorded the livestreams and hang outs on my Iphone. I've always felt we could improve the picture quality and this has done an amazing job. Not only is it a much better image but I can do zoom ins too! Here's to crisper and better live footage going forward! You can watch the recording of the livestream here.
Tennis Tennis Tennis
If you're new around here, you need to know that I am a HUGE tennis fan - playing and watching! Right now I'm recovering from a knee injury so it's all about watching. I went to Queens Club in London with a friend to watch the ladies HSBC championships last week. We had such a fun day out and a part of me wishes I had brought my paints!
Bovey Craft Fair
This weekend it was Bovey Craft Fair just down the road from me. It is a BIG deal in the world of artisan craft - hugely talented and high end hand made pieces from makers from all over the country. It is such a wonderful celebration of making and my annual opportunity to buy something really special. Kate Sampson Ceramics really caught my eye. Her decorative earthenware is nature inspired and incredibly vibrant set against a dark glaze background. I bought a little dish to celebrate mine and Ant's 9th wedding anniversary (17th June).
This week on Youtube
We are heading down to the sea with Tuesday's tutorial. This lovely stretch of seaside promenade is quite a substantial tutorial for youtube but I like to give people a sense of what we do on Patreon every now and then. I loved painting this and I hope you do too.
Loose Irises
Wild and wonderful in this watercolour style, have a go at these loose Bearded Irises with me on Thursday on Youtube. Irises are a flower I've long feared as they are so complex and multilayered. Then I took my own advice to relax and not try to capture everything. Instead, to focus on capturing the essence of the piece. You'll need a big brush for these!
