Halloween Watercolour Challenge: Your Kit & How It Works | Practical Plants for Natural Magic

Halloween Watercolour Challenge: Your Kit, Materials & How It Works | Practical Plants for Natural Magic Welcome to your Practical Plants for Natural Magic preparation video! 🌙✨ Tomorrow, we open our spell books and begin 13 Nights of Halloween, a Practical Magic-inspired watercolour painting challenge running from 19th–31st October. If you've bought one of my hand-painted grids or the full painting kit, this is the perfect place to get everything ready before our first tutorial. 🎨 IN THIS VIDEO I'll walk you through the painting kit and the materials we'll be using throughout the challenge, including the paints and brushes you'll see me using in the daily tutorials. We'll also talk about how the challenge works and what to expect over the next 13 days, so you can settle in and enjoy the painting. 🌿 HOW THE CHALLENGE WORKS Every day from 19th–31st October, we'll paint a different plant and add it to our apothecary-style spell book. Our plants have fascinating connections to witchcraft, folklore, mythology, traditional medicine and magic — with a few beautiful but deadly specimens thrown in! 🕯️ WHEN TO WATCH A new tutorial will be released every day at 5:30pm GMT on my YouTube channel, de Winton Paper co. I'll also be adding every episode to a special Halloween painting challenge playlist, so you can easily find all 13 tutorials in one place. And the best bit? The videos won't ever be deleted! If you miss a day, get behind or simply fancy revisiting a painting later, you can watch the tutorials whenever you like. There's absolutely no pressure to keep up, paint along at your own pace. ✨ NOT BOUGHT A KIT? You can still join us! You can use your own watercolour supplies with a hand-painted grid, or choose the digital template, which includes line drawing guides for every plant. 🔮 LET'S OPEN THE SPELL BOOK Get your paints ready, find a cosy spot and join me tomorrow for Night One. I can't wait to see our spell books come to life! Happy painting, Harriet x #Watercolour #HalloweenPainting #WatercolourChallenge #PracticalMagic #BotanicalPainting #WatercolourTutorial

I downloaded the trace from Etsy but it's very faint and hard to trace from. Anyway to get a darker version?

Locked and loaded with painting grid, brushes and vivida palette. Intrigued as to what magical flowers you have chosen.

I woke up this morning got all my supplies ready. Then realized I was a whole day early 🤣 I’m so excited

I took my copy to an ups store and had a darker copy printed out on watercolor paper . It was only 60 cents! I provided the watercolor paper but they have their own. This is in the USA, so hopefully, you have access to a printing service.

So we have to pay for that template?

Hi Mary, I can offer a black and white version of the grid if you're tracing. Just let me know your email and I can send that over

Just followed the tutorial that's shown up on YouTube. Managed to get it completed before having to fire up the work computer. So much fun. Can I check if it will be in YouTube each day and then it will get released on patron without adverts (though I don't recall any) the day after? Many thanks for a fantastic tutorial

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I just wanted to say that following you has been very inspirational and so easy to follow. You do such beautiful work!! Keep those tutorials coming!!

Dear Harriet, I started a bit late, but have now painted the first plant, the verbena! I'm so happy! I also like the watercolors!

Alexa

First Flower :).

Ah Alexa, I'm so pleased to hear that, looking forward to seeing your other flowers!

I am loving this challenge. Also Harriet the palette is so gorgeous!! I used it for the Tiny Autumn Treasures. There is something really nice about having a limited and tiny palette. The paper and the template you designed are gorgeous. I'm a bit behind, have only completed 3. And will have to figure out how to upload a picture. I truly love seeing other people's work. And enjoy this community so much.

Hi Harriet, Is the 15% discount still available for the Halloween and Christmas bundle? 😊
