From My Camera Roll (Patreon)

Hi everyone, thanks so much for your well wishes last week. I'm feeling refreshed after some good rest. We've also enjoyed a painting adventure this week up in Nottingham. It's been so wonderful seeing your halloween spell book paintings come together!

Watercolour Halloween Hangout: Ravens

It was so fun painting Ravens with everyone last week. These birds are such an interesting prospect, being all black but full of character and lovely reflective colours. You can watch this recording back here.

Swirling Autumn Leaves

Last night's livestream class was all about water control and taking inspiration from the swirling leaves being buffeted around in the windy storms outside (in the UK). It was a great class to help you relax and loosen up your painting while really brushing up on water control and understanding how to get ready and time your paintings the right way. Thanks to everyone who came along and for anyone who missed it, it's uploading right now and will be available to watch back later on today.

Rooted Flower Festival

I must have caught the last day to feasibly paint outside...I happily sat for a few hours on Friday in the courtyard of Hodsock Priory painting this majestic floral arch which is the first thing you see at the Rooted in History Flower Festival.

And a slightly different type of painting

Nottingham also happens to be the home of Warhammer World, a place that Ant loves very much! It was really fun to go around and see incredible artistry of a very different kind. Every singe one of those models is built and then painted all by hand.

An exciting new way to paint with me.

We've been building an 'online course' platform on the website where I can do some really detailed, long form painting classes in multi episode packages. On Youtube we try and keep tutorials fairly quick, fun and easy. On Patreon we can absolutely go into more depth but the online courses are an opportunity for me to deep dive into a topic. It's in a very early stage - we've trialled it by doing a brand new watercolour for beginners course called Watercolour Foundations as I realised I dont really have a video format comprehensive beginners collection which is up to date with all my newly learned skills and techniques. My plan is that higher levels of Patreon will automatically gain access to these courses with everyone else able to buy whichever they are interested in. Watch this space for early 2027.

Halloween!

I am so happy to see all your halloween plant paintings, keep it up and I hope you're enjoying building this lovely (but deadly) botanical piece.

I couldn't help myself...

If you've ever wondered how I dream up product ideas it always springs from a genuine love of it. I sat down to paint another of my Colour Your Own Christmas cards this week and had such a satisfying time. I feel genuinely proud of how this turned out and am really happy that it's a combination of a line drawing guide for the main design but then there's plenty of space around the edge to make it your own. Dont forget there is one week left of 15% off for Patrons on Etsy. Clicking the link directly will automatically add the discount, or you can use the code OCT15PAT at checkout.
