Watercolour Challenge 14 (Patreon)
Content
Hi everyone, I had such a lovely time with you on the livestream and am so looking forward to the live streams next year for the brand new Cherry Blossom tier.
Hello to our new Patrons! If this is your first watercolour challenge then I recommend going back through the previous challenges to get yourself up to speed and see how this all works. If you are here for house painting then start at challenge 9. All the while you can access all the tutorials on my youtube channel if you would like to go through some watercolour for beginners basics or brush up on other skills.
Today is all about the details and we have a look about thickening watercolour with an opaque white paint to help light colours show up on dark backgrounds. We are also going to create a simple garden surrounding and your tree painting skills will be called upon! If you haven't gone through my tree painting watercolour challenges they are worth having a look at before starting today's challenge.
This is a private youtube link which only you Sweet Pea and Cherry Blossom patrons have access to.
You will need
A range of brushes.
Colours of your choosing
Watercolour paper (cold pressed is my go-to).
jar of water
kitchen roll to blot the brush.
putty rubber

After watching the video...(if you can watch it on a screen larger than a phone that will improve the viewing experience as there is quite a bit of pencil drawing at the start)
This week is all about the little details and making sure that your colours keep consistent with the work you've done already. Work through the video to complete your chimney, thatch roof animal (if you like!), greenery and garden. I just painted the large house - on camera - but it's still very important that you keep going with both sized houses as we will need both in a week or so's time.
Although this is a work in progress I would still encourage sharing your work. Use #dwpcchallenge and tag me @dewintonpaperco. And please do have a look at everyone else's interpretations of the brief (search the hashtag and you will see all the patreon insta posts from everyone in here) and celebrate each other's work. We learn from seeing how others interpret a single brief so a community encourages progres
Comment below with your findings, and if you are sharing your work on Instagram, use the #dwpcchallenge and tag me @dewintonpaperco.
Have a wonderful week.
