Watercolour Challenge 17 (Patreon)
Content
Hi everyone, welcome along to this week's watercolour challenge and the last one of 2020!
Today we are looking at clouds and sky and a few different approaches to painting them. I am starting to build up our landscape painting skills in more detail now and utilise the shadow painting you began to explore in the last house painting sessions.
Hello to our new Patrons! If this is your first watercolour challenge then I recommend going back through the previous challenges to get yourself up to speed and see how this all works. If you are here for house painting then start at challenge 9. All the while you can access all the tutorials on my youtube channel if you would like to go through some watercolour for beginners basics or brush up on other skills.
This is a private youtube link which only you Sweet Pea and Cherry Blossom patrons have access to.
You will need
A range of brushes.
Colours;
Sky 1: French ultramarine, cobalt blue, burnt sienna.
Sky 2: burnt sienna, french ultramarine, cadmium yellow, cadmium orange, cobalt violet.
Sky 3: Cobalt Blue, burnt sienna, French ultramarine.
Watercolour paper (cold pressed is my go-to).
jar of water
kitchen roll to blot the brush.
tissue paper to blot ( I used loo roll)
washi tape to tape your piece down.
Whilst watching the video...(if you can watch it on a screen larger than a phone that will improve the viewing experience as there is quite a bit of pencil drawing at the start)
Paint along with the clouds and sky masterclass and create your three panels of sky

What is the sky like outside your window today? Can you capture it in watercolour with your new found skills?
I can't wait to see the results! Use #dwpcchallenge and tag me @dewintonpaperco. And please do have a look at everyone else's interpretations of the brief (search the hashtag and you will see all the patreon insta posts from everyone in here) and celebrate each other's work. We learn from seeing how others interpret a single brief so a community encourages progress.
Comment below with your findings, and if you are sharing your work on Instagram, use the #dwpcchallenge and tag me @dewintonpaperco.
