Hi everyone, welcome along to this week's watercolour challenge. This is in the style of a paint along, a little bit like the livestream I did. I want to pause the learning of too many techniques  every now and then and celebrate what we've learnt already!

So here we have a combination of some of your tree and house painting expertise put together in a simple landscape painting. I am going to incorporate more landscape painting in the future challenges, really going into detail as to how we break down a picture and the order in which we paint things, but for now, enjoy putting your new found skills into play with this one!  We start with the first of many ways in which you can paint a sky!

Hello to our new Patrons! If this is your first watercolour challenge then I recommend going back through the previous challenges to get yourself up to speed and see how this all works. If you are here for house painting then start at challenge 9. All the while you can access all the tutorials on my youtube channel if you would like to go through some watercolour for beginners basics or brush up on other skills.

This challenge is the final flourish to your country cottage painting!

This is a private youtube link which only you Sweet Pea and Cherry Blossom patrons have access to.

You will need

A range of brushes.

Colours you used for your house painting and then the pine tree landscape (French Ultramarine, Burnt Sienna, Sap Green)

Watercolour paper (cold pressed is my go-to).

jar of water

kitchen roll to blot the brush.

A pencil and rubber

washi tape if you want to tape your piece down.

Whilst watching the video...(if you can watch it on a screen larger than a phone that will improve the viewing experience as there is quite a bit of pencil drawing at the start)

First we are going to try a quick, simple version of the cottage painting, on an even smaller scale than before.

Then paint along with me for the landscape painting! If you need to refer back to the Pine Tree Landscape here is the link!

I can't wait to see the results! Use #dwpcchallenge and tag me @dewintonpaperco. And please do have a look at everyone else's interpretations of the brief (search the hashtag and you will see all the patreon insta posts from everyone in here) and celebrate each other's work. We learn from seeing how others interpret a single brief so a community encourages progres

Comment below with your findings, and if you are sharing your work on Instagram, use the #dwpcchallenge and tag me @dewintonpaperco.

Have a wonderful week and we have one more Watercolour Challenge of 2020 next week!

Dear Harriet, Because I started really late your patreon, I am on the challenge only 10, but I am eagerly waiting to do this one, that is very nice, and it is exactly this kind of landscape I like to paint. Thank you very much.

Wonderful Karima, I am so pleased. We are going to spend a bit of time looking at landscape elements before we try another house painting!

Hello Harriet, I bought two grape-sized cotton sheets, which were 70% sold, hence my purchase. I just don't know what size I should cut these two cotton sheets into. Could you please help me.
