The final part of our mantelpiece/shelf composition! In this video I finally sit down to paint my shelf in full giving further insight into painting small scale objects and how to achieve the right level of detail. I paint books, glass vessels, plants, painted pots, pens, brushes and extra odds and ends. I also look at how the objects interact with each other and the shelf they're on.  I hope that you've gained enough knowledge from the past two week's videos to paint your own piece.

Welcome to all our new Patrons, I hope you're finding your way around my Patreon ok. Don't forget, you can always send me a message if you have any specific questions. Discord is by far the best place for comments and tips on any paintings you've done as a result of the watercolour challenges as you can post your pictures and see how each other are getting on.

If you are new to painting then I highly recommend going back to the first watercolour challenges and working through the first through to get your basic techniques going. Then you can pick and choose whatever you like!

This is a private youtube link which only you sweet pea and cherry blossom patrons have access to.

You will need

Your drawing from the first session

Your usual watercolour set

an eraser

After watching the video...

paint along with me and pick up some helpful tips for painting on this scale!

Please share your finished pieces either on instagram, using the hashtag #dwpcchallenge, as well as sharing on Discord so we can all celebrate your painting highs, lows and discoveries together!

Have a wonderful week.

That was so fun to watch. I enjoyed hearing what you love about painting small scale pieces. You are so gifted! I’m wondering what you will do with that lovely composition.

Hmm yes I'm wondering too as it's so personal to me I can't really give it to anyone else!

I just finished my shelf. I really loved this one. Of course, I love them all. lol. I did use a pen for the book titles and some bleed proof white for the rim of the vase.
