December Updates (Patreon)
Content
Hello and Winter Greetings to All,
Travis & Kaitlin (and Eezo) (& Finnur, our employee) here with some December updates. 😁
The White Vault's Final Patches. We have put together our list of Patrons and messaged about 50 of you individually to collect incomplete or corrupted address information. The order is underway, and we expect to see a proof by next Friday.
Don't Mind Sealskin Rock Coins. We had some issues shipping ANYTHING to the US over the last few months. These issues should largely be resolved and we're preparing to ship the custom made Sealskin Rock coins. We have just procured an official German PO Box for return mail, and are waiting to be assigned the box number so we can add it to the return addresses. (cue Nick Cage movie marathon while we work) We were told that we'll have our number by the 11th, so we expect to begin our large packing operation around that time.
Guardian Tier Specialty. We will make a separate post specifically about this later on, but we wanted to share our design for this year's Guardian Tier 'Specialty': a statuette. Sketched and designed by Kaitlin, created by our friends at Basilisk Builds (the same folks who made last year's artifacts), this guardian statue will stand at roughly 7 inches in height and (importantly)... will have thumbs...More details soon!
2025 Retrospective. We are 2 weeks away from our yearly scheduled winter break! This is the only time of the year that we have to ourselves after a SUPER intense year of ONE AND A HALF releases per week! Eezo (our best boy) had a surprise surgery last month and has finally recovered, so we're admittedly excited for some breathing room.2025 saw the creation of Don't Mind Sealskin Rock - our second Don't Mind story. We wrapped production on The White Vault: Goshawk, finished Season 2, and got through the first half of our final season. We also re-recorded and reimagined the first season of Liberty: Tales from the Tower, and even adapted the show to Japanese! Dark Dice also grew to be one of our largest shows this year, and in addition to a live show, we've almost finished our Season 2 story.
Awards and Success. As of writing this, Liberty: Tales from the Tower (the Japanese adaptation) is currently the #1 Fiction Podcast (and Sci-Fi Podcast) in Japan! You can see the rankings on Apple Podcasts. 😁 It is our hope to see fiction podcasts grow in popularity within Japan, and this is our first step toward that goal. We also won quite a few awards in the last two months!!! We won six Signal Awards, a Lovie Award, Best Director at the Rio Web Festival, Best Sound Design at the NYC Web Fest, and Best Original Music in an Actual Play at the NJ Web Fest! We've started to organize these wins on each of our podcast pages on our new website - FoolandScholar.com and we could not be more proud of our team and collaborators around the world!
Roadmap for 2026. A full schedule is listed on the front page of our website. This list will remain up to date. Between January to March, we intend to complete The White Vault: Goshawk, Liberty: Tales from the Tower (Japanese adaption), and we're pushing to finish Dark Dice: The Long Road in roughly that timeframe as well. Because in April we hope to premiere something unexpected...
Dark Dice. We are excited to announce that we will soon be returning to Shores of the Silver Thrum! Shores of the Silver Thrum follows the survivors of a terrible shipwreck as they try to endure the chilling elements and infectious terrors of the frozen north... We hope to also offer an expanded PDF for our lamprey (playtesters) featuring a ~200 page adventure.
The Next Horror Story? While the doors to The White Vault close, other stories burn to be told! Horror, as a genre, is less effective over longer stories, and there's a certain magic to discovering a new world of terrors (and resolving that story within 1 or 2 seasons). To this end, we started Don't Mind as a way for us to tell varying tales of the strange and unnerving variety, and we're already hard at work to accomplish this goal with our next horror story... If you enjoy the supernatural, if you enjoy archaeology, and if you enjoy traveling with us around the world, then you're going to love Don't Mind Riku Cave. Beyond the name, and that it will be set in Japan, we'll leave the rest to your imagination as scripts are being written, early casting ideas are discussed, and we are already working with artists. Releasing 3 episodes every 2 weeks has really taken a toll on us, and we will likely premiere Riku Cave closer to October, with more updates prior to that time.
We'll get back to it!
