Sabina's Notes 014: Belok (Patreon)

[These are our regular posts at the $15/month level - Deities of the Fringe!]While many of the gods are immaterial beings we cannot see,Great Belok can be seen watching us from the sky. The Keeper of Order and Consistency, Power, and Attrition, they give and take equally to maintain balance in all things. Great Belok is the favored god-moon of their father, Lord Hakai and though they are known as the Greater Moon, they are actually the younger of the two god-moons.
As the keeper of balance, they are almost always neutral in the workings of the gods, focusing instead on the world of women. Belok is known to aid younger tribes while taking from tribes that grow to excess. This often puts them into conflict with Niraji and her followers, while being beloved by those who befall hardship. Belok rarely has temples of dedication as those who acquire power will often seek the protection of other gods.
An old story exists where Belok and Rakoi, the god of luck, were once childhood friends who grew to hate one another. However, there are so many different variations of the tale that its impossible to tell which version is closest to the truth.
In divining shapes, Great Belok is represented by two half-circles on top of one another, representing the balance of opposing forces and the different phases of the moon. Belok is intersex, both genders, and a complexion which shifts from dark to light each month. As artists within the Fringe are few, often times depictions will be split between varying extremes of gender and skin color as seen above.
