The Devil came here yesterday, talking like he owns the world.

(Sorry, my voice really gave out; more Thursday.)

And Gaza is still Gaza.

Enviable voice training progress.

My awareness of your work has coincided with my awareness of the completely fucking unsustainable levels of resource extraction and mass extinction going on worldwide, mostly to feed this disgusting pig of an economy, and when i became aware of the fact that the US is actively planning for further resource extraction in the Arctic after the ice melts, i fully realized that the people in charge would LITERALLY rather kill us all and set the earth on fire before relinquishing any of their power or wealth. How do you fight someone who's prepared to kill us all?

Have you considered a Nina Simone episode for echoes bones? Love all the possum talk and the strangelove quote.

Third Reich, Fourth Reich, Twelfth Reich's a dozen 😞

Michael all do respect but you were incorrect on one point, the most american jingoistic phrase epstein said was “what’s this got to do with pussy?”

I was in 10th grade for 9/11 and graduated in 2003. I'm familiar with the seemingly eternal reign of W. And the subsequent cursed land of Obama. My grandfather was a state senator in Pennsylvania and his daughter my mother committed suicide when she was 36 after a lifetime of trying to be a supportive family member politically and socially. My father died of sudden heart failure a year and a half later after living with alcoholism during that time. He was a highschool and university level football star who injured his knee and graduated with a degree in criminology. He worked briefly for R. Budd Dwyer until that came it it's conclusion and then struggled heroically as a small business entrepreneur for the rest of his days until his sudden death which left only severe debt. My brother and I finished out our days in highschool and graduated from University under the care of grandparents and shortly after finishing I realised there was nowhere for me to go that didn't bring me face to face with the American who doesn't see the problem all around them and I left to live in Japan. After two years there I decided China might be more of what I was looking for and I spent 5 years there. Today I live in Australia and in the nearly 20 years now I have lived outside the United states, whenever I look back across the water it is as if I'm hearing the song you played at the end of this episode in the exact same framing in which you just played it.

Hey. You cooked with this one.

Just commenting to say that version of "Trouble in Mind" is one of my all time favorite recordings. George Jones does an incredible (very different) version of it, but Nina Simone's is a world apart.

Anthony DiBattista

In the spirit of Layla trivia and my own hatred of Eric Clapton, I always remind people that Duane Allman is behind the really memorable guitar part of the song. He came up with the riff and played it using a slide. Someone even isolated the audio https://youtu.be/7hFJQUsblsw

Mention of America's senility always draws for me the echos of Corsos American dream ringing out "Old old"

According to Wikipedia, Van Dyke Parks did the orchestral arrangements on that Shortwave Set album!

Shadowplay

Scorsese is a huge Clapton fan and was excited about getting to mix his guitar for Color of Money (his worst?). "Almost like PLAYING Eric Clapton's guitar," he enthused. So I certainly think he's knowledgeable and may well have heard about Jim Gordon.
