Second half of Rathenau séance; turns out it needs three halves. Real oracular event halfway through. I'm a blackstar. I'm a blackstar. I'm not a film star. I'm a blackstar. I'm not a pop star. I'm a star-star. I'm a blackstar.

Ahhhhh the Suhr amplifiers. Very nice but very expensive. I lean more towards Friedmans.

Recently, I came across the poem Sappho's Reply by Rita Mae Brown and realized the Army of Lovers graffiti is in response to it. The poem was published in 1971.

I do not like that I had to work and could not give this ep the attention it deserves

Poly digression in the legendary seance episode put a smile on my face haha

A note on transformers: they’re alternating current machines, the steel core is not magnetized itself but the fluctuations in the amplitude of the voltage of ‘wire one’ actually create an alternating magnetic field in the laminated steel core the and that is what induces the current in wire two. Sorry for being overly pedantic love the show.

ya know how two riders were approachin' and the wind began to howl...? well I can only take these first two halves as the two riders, and half three as the howling wind. Also speaking of Jimi when you were talking woodstock I starting thinking about how Jimi was the only worthwhile part of it all, so I was quite excited when you said exactly what needs to be said on that topic. We really are just always burning shit aren't we. Extraction, transportation, Heraclitus might've been right about it all coming from fire.

Endlessly decaying illusory puppet show realities for the peasants while the lich lords and their warlock lackeys desperately attempt to defeat death by becoming Death itself. If it was the story a dnd campaign or a fantasy novel I'd say it was maybe a bit overwrought or camp but here the fuck we are living it. Very cool. Damn dude, I've been looking forward to hearing the end of this series for a long time and now I'm just horrified that we seem to finally have arrived at the proper time and place.

Feel like there’s a big connection between Franz Pökler’s worldview and that scene with Katje’s ancestor killing every last dodo

A couple years ago I read this propublica piece on a 3m environmental chemist who was studying pfas contamination all the way back in the 90's. All these chemical companies have their own internal safety teams looking for potential harms that could cause liability headaches down the road, though mostly in an evil corporate "calculating the cost of the cover-up" way. Anyway, this lady is testing blood samples for PFOS and finds alarming levels in every single one. Company workers, random Red Cross blood, animals, everything. So she takes the data to her superiors and after some mild corporate bullying/blackballing, they assure her that yeah, ok, this looks kinda bad but don't worry, the medical guys have been testing it and it's completely harmless. In another room of the same building, the medical risk team is finding all of these harms in their mice and rhesus monkeys, cancera, endocrine disruption, reproductive harm etc. And *their* bosses go, yeah, ok sure that looks bad, but the environment gal has assured us it isn't getting into anyone's blood, or drinking water, or soil, or food. And these PHD-holding Enlightened Seekers of Empirical Knowledge just . . . accepted the most obvious lie of all time and shut the fuck up about it for *20 years*. https://www.propublica.org/article/3m-forever-chemicals-pfas-pfos-inside-story

Great episode and looking forward to the 3rd part. What's the closing song? Is it henry cow adjacent?

Drew LaBarre

As IBEW industrial electrician that’s a pretty good description of a Transformer.

Minutes 0500 through 2200 was one of the most interesting things I’ve ever heard, and was like a less wordy version of the instructions on a Universal Audio plugin

The opening PFAS bit is fun… I was slathered in that shit back in my day in the Army… the hazard was unknown at the time. Then again, they gave me and a few other guys a ‘mystery shot’ that - in hindsight- sure seems like it was the metabolic arctic augmentation that they had derived from their first round of research at the same location in the 60s… I was one of the guys who survived that experiment- not everyone did. I lost 30 pounds in three months starting at 190 and ten percent body fat- one kid gave up vomiting blood after losing the same weight in the same interval- the docs wouldn’t help us- just keep records of our wasting… but shit, I could jog in nothing but shorts at fifty below zero- I’m sure these facts aren’t related…🤣🤣
