MJ on "Blackstar" as musical mimesis of the relationship between American foreign policy and Middle Eastern terrorism contriving to bring about the Blackstar, how both Bowie and Don DeLillo saw 9/11 coming 25 years early, and Jean-Luc Ponty jerking off his violin.

(A quick note, because I say mimesis too often & don't know if that's in common parlance anymore: in the traditional lexicon of Greek art, probably attributable to Plato or Aristotle or some other over-influential boy-toucher, art had 3 basic faculties, mimesis, diegesis, and exegesis.

Mimesis is the imitation of nature and the root of our "mime" and "mimic"; diegesis is the world of plot, the area of suspended disbelief in which what we'd now call storylines occur; and exegesis is interpretation and analysis, either by readers/viewers/listeners or, sometimes, within the art itself, as in the speeches that often close Greek plays.)

The fusion of Isis & Hollywood movie explosion

Would love to hear your take on The Zapatistas, and specifically former Subcommandante Marcos. And Baudrillard, particularly his notions of hyper-reality and his take on the first Gulf War. Perhaps Bowie and DeLillo were subconsciously or otherwise training future artists to be resolute in execution, a needed skill for the times forthcoming?

Was listening to and appreciating this mini series again. It occurred to me, and I wanted to ask, whether you think v the nazi "black sun" symbol might also have been a part of what Bowie was piecing together here?

Listening your old episodes. Michael, in this one you predict that the west will openly team up with ISIS to take on Iran. Prescient.

These Bowie episodes, particularly this series and the one on Station to Station, have not only been great to listen to, but have also expanded my appreciation of the albums in question. Thanks man.
