... that I invite you guys & girls to submit topics for shows, with the caveat that I have no idea which ones I'll do.  I've got material for years and also, evidently, the propensity to turn my own psychiatric crises into unscheduled disquisitions on the stupidity of the Singularity, but do feel free to toss stuff this way.

Also: neither is locked down yet and I'd put the odds for both around 50/50, but I hope to have what I think would be fair to call two big-ass guest announcements pretty soon, so stay tuned (as if you weren't barraged with emails every time I say or do anything).

Remind me to do the L. Ron Hubbard episode. Not an "exposé on Scientology," but about L. Ron, braine geanious nonpareil

Anonymous

I think someone previously suggested William Burroughs, which I agree would be great Death/Corner fodder

Hunter

Would you be interested in doing a 100% cinema episode at some point?

Robert

Anything Joyce would be right up my alley, especially as you seem to have an interest in Pound too. I find their relationship fascinating. Also, more of a long-shot but any thing on Gaddis would be welcome! Especially in the context of Pynchon.

Tom Kern

I'd be all for a movie episode (have no idea what your tastes in cinema look like) or digging deeper into 1. Outside or Scary Monsters or more Delillo

Falling Man

I echo Tom and Robert, and would add something else: an exploration of quantum theory, alternate futures, Broken Arrows, and annihilation using inspiration provided by Pete Brannen ( <a href="https://tinyurl.com/ycq4fgsz" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://tinyurl.com/ycq4fgsz</a> ) and Eric Schlosser ( <a href="https://tinyurl.com/yd9usqzf" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://tinyurl.com/yd9usqzf</a> ). Your past forays into multiple-futures and the nuclear arms complex (with all its cultural, economic, political, environmental and social overtones) gets me thinking about this stuff quite a bit.

Falling Man

Sorry, one more idea, something I was gonna ask you privately but I'll just post it: talk about your work, man! ;-) Why the hell not? You have what looks like a pretty impressive and extensive body of work--why not walk us through it a bit? What are highlights and sources of pride? What are dominant themes? Sources of inspiration? What novels should we try to buy first, and what should we keep in mind as we read them? Same perhaps goes for music. Perhaps consider audio versions of your novels, and/or a way to make things available to some of the patreon subscribers - downloadable stuff not to be shared on the honor system? I dunno. There's probably some kind of option- you get my drift. I think part of the reason that you are getting more attention on the podcast than via novels is the nature of the medium--I (and probably a lot of others) simply have a helluva lot more time to listen than to read. Anyway, thanks for the opportunity to weigh in with ideas!

JP Jackson

As the previous comment mentioned, hearing about your own work would be very interesting. As for other subjects, personally I'd love to hear your thoughts on Charles Bukowski and his work, most especially Ham on Rye. Cheers MJ

Stephen Roberts

You've mentioned possibly doing a Station to Station ep and I'd be extremely here for that (definitely my personal fav Bowie). Also, I hope you continue your Gravity's Rainbow series sometime soon!

deathcorner

Curious cos I can't tell from your phrasing: is there another podcast called "100% Cinema," or are you asking if I'd do one all about movies? In the former case, lemme look into it, but probably, sure; in the latter, that's what one of my guest episodes will be if I can make it happen

deathcorner

those latter 3 are definitely going to happen – I'm thinking of doing a Bowie album every month from now on

deathcorner

those will both definitely happen – I've had the latter on deck for weeks &amp; it keeps getting bumped for more urgent stuff, and as for the former, I'm thinking I may do a Bowie album every month, say the first week or last week or whichever works best

deathcorner

If you guys wouldn't consider it hyper-self-indulgent, I could do an episode on what I was thinking &amp; trying to do with one of the books I've got in print. SCENARISTS OF EUROPE would be easiest to talk about &amp; is also probably my favorite of the published ones; the only problem is that all my best stuff is in manuscript form &amp; I can't find a publisher weird or rich, or weird and rich, enough to take it on

deathcorner

There'll definitely be a FINNEGANS WAKE show at some point, and to do that, I have to talk about the rest of Joyce for anything to make any sense at all (i.e., maybe still not much), so yes, will do

I'm uncultured swine unfortunately so I don't have anything of real uniqueness to request besides what's already been asked- *your* body of work. ....and I really dug your Iran/Contra ep's. I have taken real interest in learning things my countrymen have done in the name of American values as I swing left politically. Is an EP about United Fruit Co or similar possible?

I loved the recent technopessimism episode and would happily listen to more on startup/silicon valley/tech utopian ideology. I would also enjoy your thoughts on horror that centers alienation and being helpless under structures of power beyond Lovecraft. He gets a ton of shine, these days, but I'd love to learn more about Flannery O'Connor, Rust Belt Gothic, and stuff that unpicks late capitalism. Also, Cybersyn.

Would love to hear you do something on late Scott Walker albums if you've got the material. I know what a lot of the songs themselves are about but it would be great to hear what you think he's trying to get at overall with all the weird formal elements he introduces. Also, I'd second Eric's idea of making your fiction available to subscribers in some way, obviously in whatever format is fairest and most convenient for you. Podcast episodes about your mindset behind certain novels would be great, and I would even be into hearing you read out whole sections as a teaser similar to the posts on your wordpress blog. I'm not sure how much the other Corner-heads are freaky about audiobooks the way I am, but I'd be willing to fork out extra money if you went all the way and did an audio version of one of your books. Just an idea, because I know how much of a pain in the ass that would be and, like I said, not sure if enough of the other subscribers would be on board for it to be worth your while.

I'd love a full Djuna Barnes episode, or maybe one on English language Modernists more generally. I don't know if you've ever mentioned H.D. - I be interested in what you think about her poetry, Trilogy in particular.

EB

Oh, also Beckett.

EB

Idiot that I am, I made this request before listening to episode 92.

Any interest in talking about the CIA in Africa? specifically in DRC and around.

deathcorner

I'm grossly undereducated here – apart from the MENA, my only real knowledge of America's fuckaround business in Africa is Reagan's CIA in Angola with Jonas Savimbi. Any recommendations for sources?

Anonymous

Honestly not really. I watched a couple documentaries on Lumumba and Mobutu, and have read lots of articles and random book segments. I’ll try find something and report back.

deathcorner

Yeah, I guess I should add that there's some stuff about Lumumba back in the Kennedy series on the free site, shoutengine.com/deathisjustaroundthecorner – I think it was either #2 or #3 in the JFK bloc in which I explained that Lumumba's assassination was an explicit warning from the CIA to Kennedy not to fuck around with Cold War foreign policy, because Kennedy was in favor of getting Lumumba out of the Congo.

Brant

You mentioned this in episode two of your Blackstar series, but I would absolutely love to hear your analysis of Station to Station. My favorite album by any artist in any decade. I've spent so much time thinking about that album and would really adore getting your insight into it.

deathcorner

If I'm gonna follow thru on this Bowie-album-a-month thing, and I plan to, STATION TO STATION will probably be first (so, what, like 9/2)

BobbyMilk

A Fassbinder/World on a Wire episode would be cool?!

deathcorner

I honestly don't know his work well at all – I think THE MARRIAGE OF MARIA BRAUN is the only one of his movies I've seen all the way through
