After identifying the reactionary gnosticism of politics-without-politics, we need to look back to the period in which the "deep state" – more accurately the Fourth Reich – dragged politics beneath the surface of the Earth and consolidated its grasp upon enforceable reality, possibly for good.  1961 to 1976, Bay of Pigs to Pentagon Papers, Watergate, and the New, Reformed CIA™.

Pretty sure anything Colby has to say about Ellsberg would qualify as damage control. What do you make of Peter Dale Scott’s 50-year friendship with him? PDS saw spooks everywhere but came to trust Ellsberg, and eulogized him upon his death.

william colby in the tags, eh? looking forward to listening to this. In my freshman year of college I took an elective taught by his wife. she’s probably exactly how you’d imagine her. she was a senior official for USAID for clinton among having other “diplomatic” posts

Oh boy oh boy. Seriously though what kind of sick mind disease do I have where I look forwards to stories of such depravity and evil. It's way worse than licking public toilets clean, but yet I go back again and again to this period in American history and lap it all up like Captain Blicero gobbling shit

I listened to your great appearance on the bottlemen, and I wanted to get your take: do you think Aum Shinrikyo could have been an extension of the MKULTRA program? The cult's practices, including use of LSD, shock therapy, and various other torture techniques are very similar to what the CIA has employed, and also very similar to Charles Manson's methods. Shoko Asahara's connection to CIA asset Dalai Lama is pretty suspect. Aum Shinrikyo's persistent attempts to acquire nuclear and chemical weaponry seem Gladio-esque, and also provide useful narrative fodder for later demonizing Al-Qaeda and the "terrorist threat." Sorry for the long message, it just seems to me that given the history of Unit 731, and the complete and total protection they were given after the end of WWII, that Japan must have had its own MKULTRA program, but I can find little to no information on it, and I was hoping you might have greater insight than I do. Thanks again for all that you do, I found D/C on the TrueAnon subreddit and I've been hooked ever since.

What do you make of Daniel Ellsberg being on the board (edit: "Editorial Advisory Council") of WhoWhatWhy, Russ Baker's (author of Family of Secrets) media outlet?

Great show! Doug Valentine is an excellent researcher. Interview maybe? I’d recommend checking out civil rights lawyer Daniel Sheehan’s YouTube lectures on the deep state, jfk killing, etc. Sheehan’s Christic institute was involved in exposing Iran contra among other things (and had its 501c3 status revoked by HW bush admin). Sheehan has some similar thoughts on watergate if memory serves, though he puts more onus on Nixon who may have been more directly involved w/ the jfk killing (couldn’t remember where he was when he heard the news of John’s death). Also worth considering, Kissinger was a Rockefeller man, who supported stronger ties w/ China. Watergate was likely a cia op to oust Nixon over policy (and perhaps Nixon’s instability, shades of trump and russiagate). Fascinating stuff!

Hayden Bagot

great usage of the Varo painting for the episode image

Harold Niver

Your Dick Cheney impression was spot-on.
