MSJ, speaking from the collapsed black hard disk at the galactic core of several dissociating spiral arms, attempts to limn some contours of the Fourth Reich as a project that both precedes & survives Nazi Germany.

I’m curious where I could look for support for the post-WWI destroy-liberal-democracy-through-wealth-concentration thesis. From what I’ve read it’s always presented as either happy coincidence or inevitable outcome of capitalism rather than something the old elites said out loud was their plan.

Leo Gershik

just in time for me to develop brain worms on my flight to Seattle

DFA

Yass, more nightmares!

Aric Jeffries

That Trueanon comment section was brutally stupid. Loved that episode.

Cojan Rico

The only podcast that matters

Alexandria Henderson

People getting mad at you for that is stupid. I started to listen to you this week bc you had the honesty to discuss that movie and not be a sycophant to Adam Curtis like every other socialist in media it seems

Benjamin Smith

For what it's worth, you're right about Adam Curtis

Frisk

You don't even need to watch the Curtis documentary to know it's nonsense propaganda, it was allowed to be aired on the BBC, ffs.

Jaxon

Just look at the pretty pictures and listen to the terf isle ex-trot

John Waaben

Ignore the haters for they imbibe the haterade. Also I feel the thread you’re pulling out of the tapestry here and it feels like :(. Fantastic ep

cwen

Just finished and relistening again. This was really good, Michael! Thank you!!

S

What an incredible episode!! Thank you!!

Geoffrey long

Only podcast I listen to the night it comes out! Mr Judge thank you always!

Bobby Volcano

Maybe somewhat fittingly, Fourth Reich series is shaping up to be a bit of an anti-thesis of the Adam Curtis doc. The ideas here are actually connecting my neurons in new ways instead of pruning off all the dendrites. Thanks!

Vesna Radivojevic

Hating on the latest Adam Curtis doc is the only correct position for a comrade to have. I love most of Curtis’ stuff, but this last one was more like parody of his style than a proper philosophical/cultural/political analysis.

nicholas podell

I hope you’re feeling better man. I know how utterly bleak this shit can get, just know that I respect and appreciate the work you do and I hope to enjoy it for many years to come.

Andrew Rassling

Michael, this is the work your podcast was intended for by fate, or god, or whatever. Your eloquent expression and synthesis of all these obsfucated threads is amazing and why after hearing you talk with Brace and Liz I eventually subscribed. You helped me to see that the concept of the windowless monad is so pervasive in society, and how wrong that conceptualization of reality is. Thank you ever so much for what you do. Also you got me to order Ezra Pound's Cantos today from my friendly local bookstore, so thanks for getting me back into poetry.

Andrew Rassling

1 last thing. I hope you feel as good as you can! Life is hard, and yours seems harder than most in some ways due to your health issues. You rightly trashed Adam Curtis' vibes based approach to history, but I hope you accept the good vibes I hope I send your way, and hopefully that helps you

Luqman Arif

This is how society is supposed to progress in the later days according to Islamic eschatology. What are modern techno fascists but pharaohs? anytime we’ve had a Moses they were eliminated by the very forces you are aptly describing. May Allah ease your suffering...

Matthew

Would it be too much to ask D/C to credit ideas central to its synthesis to authors who have brought said ideas forward ... in this ep, Giorgio Agamben, maybe Gavriel D. Rosenfeld ... ? Or append a "recommended reading" list to eps to open the conversation to listeners interested in the books simmering under the groove? Nice episode!

JD

Ever read “brought to light” by Bill Sienkiewicz & alan moore? Would love to see msj’s ideas and depth in a beautiful graphic novel. Sienkiewicz once illustrated JFK assassination trading cards for kitchen sink press and they’re beautiful. Would love to see someone like him illustrate your ideas and layers, especially the trajectory going back to WW1

Ben

WW3>>Cold War *was* the most important truth you showed me this year, but it is being challenged by the 'Fourth Reich' preceding, including, and flourishing after, the Third Reich. Thank you MSJ take care brother!

John

Very good set Michael, keep on keeping on

Alexandria Henderson

Do you ever do any research/script consulting? I am putting together a indie ecosocialist doc. listening to your stuff the past few days while working and the stuff you have in your mind is amazing. I am probably filming the first bit in Jordan in November so hoping to get more research and development done before then. Not sure how to contact you if that’s something you do, I don’t have Twitter

John McElroy

Spot on about Curtis and his latest work, Michael. Don't let the bastards grind you down.

John McElroy

Also, would like more background, if you get to this specific topic of media infiltration with Mockingbird and now how intelligence officers are coming out of the shadows on MSM and running for Congress without much pushback. This series you are doing on 4th Reich is so important, my friend. I think you have developed a macro-narrative (which is hard to do) which really fits the facts. Cheers.

Needs More Marxism

I think the thing that is so remarkable about The Man in the High Castle, isn’t the twist that the Nazi-ruled world is fake, but that the Nazi-ruled world is real; it is our world. The wallpaper is different, but the house is the same, so to speak. I remember reading the passage about the unspeakable nuclear horrors unleashed in Africa and thinking, “Well, this is just what we did in Polynesia. This is what France did in Africa, what Britain did to the native peoples of Australia.” Concerning Dick’s politics, I’ve always thought his ideology was quite confused. Some of his stories are outright anti communist, and he often conflated the evil of the USA with the evil of the USSR. I know in the Exegesis, he describes himself at one point as a fascist. But Dick also said a lot of things in the Exegesis, things presumably never meant to be read.

owenobball

I would love a book list about this topic

Chris Ryan

I was half afraid that those people from the comments section might pop up here, but then I realized they would never be so bold as to subscribe to this podcast or listen to an episode. They know better; I think we are safe over here.

Ross Shockley

I'm more mad about your comments on Robert Anton Wilson than I am Adam Curtis! RAW is a god

Ernest Ambrus

Michael, just wanted to ask if part five of your JFK series is in the works or available somewhere? Thank you for all you do.

scully

Loving these episodes :)

Gustave Courbet

Great episode, hope Mr. Judge can climb out from under. For listeners, I don’t normally recommend this guy w/out caveats but if you’re listening to this podcast you can probably handle his stuff w/out losing your mind: Dave Emory has been researching the fascist underground for decades (what he calls the “Bormann organization” among other names), and has hundreds of hours of audio on his website about everything from the jfk killing to operation gladio to the golden Lilly to US support of global fascism. Not without flaws but a very useful resource for those interested in this dark terrain.

Harmless Eggplant

Holy shit, just came back to check out the podcast after like 7-8 months of letting it sit for episodes to build up and suddenly you've gone from the like...$900ish a month or w/e you were pulling before your year long hiatus for basically the entire duration of my several years of listening and now you're pulling $12.4k a month? I can't even describe how stoked I am to finally see you getting the financial compensation the staggering amount of research that goes into DIJATC deserves. Can only imagine what a personal weight this is off your back considering how often the incredibly fucked nature of being poor with chronic health conditions came up in your old episodes. Greatly looking forward to devouring all this delicious new content too :D

Gregory

Thank you for the correct opinion on Curtis.

Salt M. Bank

Michael, I joined the patreon couple weeks back after listening to the free episodes. When you were articulating the literalness of the phrase “4th reich” and how challenging it is to explain that is to people, that really resonated with me. Largely bc simply put, it makes perfect sense, when one knows the shadow history and parapolitics of this nation. I don’t have anything exceptionally profound to add or articulate here, except thank you for doing this series and all you do.

Sam

Great episode. To emphasise the distinction between the Hitler phenomenon from the much larger historical phenomenon you are referring to, wouldn’t it be better refer to fascism rather than Nazism?
