The End of History hits a snag.

(And yes, I know Alex says oomny, meaning "clever," but omni is perfect.)

First! Love you in an an intellectual but not gay way even though there's nothing wrong with that.

QUARANTINE DREAM

re-subbed now that my $$$ sitch is ace again

Nicholas Berken

Your on a roll recently, past few episodes have been even better than usual.

AJ McKenna

Maybe it's the fact I only read it recently, but this has me thinking about Cyclonopedia, but with heroin mapped onto the way Nagarastani talks about oil. It's a natural resource, it comes in a black, tarry form, and it is also in a sense a malevolent nonhuman intelligence that means to destroy us all.

AJ McKenna

Based on this episode, Mr Judge, your fears of not being on form at the start of this episode are unfounded. I'm going to keep coming back to this one like the necroheliosophy episode. Omni/oomny indeed!

S

Omg, loved it! This brought me back to life! The sheer joy of your fervor

It is I, John QuuuinZZZZY Adams!

Justin Hastings

It’s (understandably) difficult to perceive how any alternate timeline post-WW2 could be somehow worse than the one we’re currently living, but if Kennedy loses to Nixon in 1960, it is likely that we would have dropped nukes on the Soviet Union.

Lukas McCutcheon

Hey guy. Let’s say that I have (because I do) friends who I care for deeply, but they suffer from a crippling confirmation bias, just like every liberal who thinks they are a leftist (because they worship Bernie) and are aspiring to become a centrists, where they think crypto currency is “revolutionary” and not just Other Money™ like I insist. And every time I insist that it’s just Other Money™ they started panicking and babbling about how I don’t understand block chain coding and open ledgers and other hilarious nonsense. Could you point me/us to some things or people to read so that I can refine my arguments since I’m still under the misconception that these friends of mine will respect me enough to listen to me under any circumstances?

Nicholas CLARK

Saw a comment somewhere that the American Napoleon is probably on one of those flights out of Afghanistan right now, and it’s been ringing in my head like a bell all week.

Travis Linnemann

You are probably correct, but note his daughter pronounces it Bra-zinski

Mateusz Krupiński

Lovely to hear an American pronounce polish correctly. You nailed the first name, but the last name should have the “B” sound at the very beginning. Still great though

Kendall

Mateusz beat me to it! Amazing episode, MSJ. “Power-sharing agreement” will now be used daily.

Brendan Garcia

Is the willingness to withdraw from Afghanistan at least partly explicable by the “winding down” of at least one phase of the opioid crisis? Now that the lawsuits and retrospectives on Purdue and Oxy are being formulated, and we’ve moved on to Mexican heroin, fentanyl, and Suboxone?

Brook Hines

I just came here to say that is some of your best work...and i was reminded b/c I’m talking to a friend who really needs this meta and oddly, i feel like this is really representative of the entire body of work.

Gianteye

I was excited to hear you reference Operation Fishbowl and the US attempt to eliminate the sky. The guy responsible for the "if we can't dominate space no one can" atmospheric radiation shield theory, Nicholas Christofilos, was an elevator operator and folk mathematician who wrote so many letters to DARPA they figured there wasn't any harm in giving him a nuke for his troubles.

Chris Ryan

Mj this was great and well needed to ground me on a day where I had begun to feel sorry for myself etc it was amazing to see this pop up. Ppl were posting on the last one like they thought you were gonna take time off. Thanks for doing it

dimdimKing

Thank you for distilling something (80s soviets v muhjahadeen) that was taught to me during history at highschool. It's maddening all the spin, regardless how horrific a situation it's been/is/will become.

Matt

I cannot recommend highly enough the Book “Neck Deep:The Disastrous Presidency of George W. Bush”. Talks about much of the same stuff…Robert Parry’s work is vital.

Carine

MSJ, we are lucky to live in the same time-line as you. "Queenzy... a sense of whimsy"

I love how fuckiyama is Mike's Dr Evil

Renee Leath

Thanks for continuously wading into the abyss of reality for us and forming it into something cohesive. This illusion of division is breaking my brain. It's crazy-making how we've been led to believe that politicians, corporations, technology, drugs, assassinations, terrorism, the justice system, etc., exist completely separate from one another. Once you start connecting it all (that "slow and steady advance"), it's terrifying and bleak. I know this is waaaaay too reductive, but I'm fairly new to this school of thought and it still hits me hard every time I stop and think about it.

Did I sense some hope at the end there? Maybe hope is too strong a word, but a twinkle of possibility outside of the paths we’ve been subjected to our entire lives?

Billy

Great stuff. 21 year old listener, and I just wanted to mention the first time I heard of the Star Wars program was in the WKUK Reagan sketch
