Coming across “main character moment” on TikTok really threw me for a whirl, gave me whiplash.

as adorno writes about the holocaust, "Every horror necessarily becomes, in the enlightened world, a horrific fairytale. " The bomb-conversion of bodies into observable matter for Western commentators is a means of diffusing the actuality of the events -- we engage with the reality of genocide on a spectral level, and thus sublimate the real violence that we are ceaselessly party to. Americans, as the "subjects of history," are slop hogs fed on images of slaughter and continual catastrophe, parsing violence thru continual "commentary" -- the perpetual mythic reabsorption of the reich into the skull in the form of History, composed of Events and Issues and Problems.

This was closed yesterday but the Guardian put out a questionnaire for readers who were going to be at the pro-Palestine/Armistice Day protest tomorrow (11/11) with these questions: Name Where do you live? Tell us a bit about yourself (e.g. [my note: pretty sure e.g. is used for different reasons] age and what you do for a living Tell us why you will be attending the pro-Palestine Armistice Day march in London (include as much detail as possible) If you are happy to, you can upload a photo of yourself here (button to choose a file) https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/nov/08/tell-us-will-you-be-taking-part-in-the-pro-palestine-armistice-day-march This is such subtle spycraft, incredible really.

Michael, you've changed the way I see the world.

That was a cold open for the ages, and I nearly forgot all about it by the time I got to the end of the ep. Certainly worthy of another listen or two.

The modern world is a tailings dam. We’re all nauseous off the fumes, sinking deeper into the brine.

Excellent quote. I’ve been thinking almost every day about Jack Ketchum’s novel “The Girl Next Door.” A brutal piece of work that could be dismissed as pulp horror, yet articulates the specific blood thirsty nature of American culture beautifully. The atrocities of the frontier will come home.

fourth reich monologue at around 26 minutes in goes insanely hard

For what it’s worth, I titled a solo art exhibit (I’m a painter) in NYC in the early ‘00’s “This Storm is what We Call Progress.” Imagine the chill that went up my spine when you recited that passage. Thank you as always for your ever inspiring insight foresight, etc

Are there any books on Palestine that you would recommend?

Always love further elucidation on the Fourth Reich, it was this idea that really pulled me into your work years back and it’s been fascinating to see how it has expanded. More often than not, the Fourth Reich’s mechanizations can be seen on display through geopolitical horrors and warring, lending evidence to your theory with every tragic report of civilian death and displacement. I am in the grips of the paradox that you mention. As a viewer of an atrocity exhibition, I cannot unsee these things nor can I truly understand the despair or loss, but I most definitely cannot remain silent.

Philip K Dick got here first. Both with “Man in the high castle” and the “three stigmata of Palmer Eldridge” the Empire never ended.

Listening to that backwards demon talk at the beginning…I thought I was being activated by my handler. Whew! I wasn’t.
