That Harper Gal

I think I'm starting to get it. Denial is a strong bulwark, but a brittle one.

Finvaara

Now we get to a part where I genuinely have no idea which prediction is true. Excellent writing.

Vicroc4

Ah, and here we go. The Paarthurnax moment.

valsalia

I also keep getting told it's a river in the Mesopotamian region

valsalia

They do indeed possess well technology, and basic aqueducts

valsalia

What about me? Don't I get to have questions too?????

valsalia

Hey I'm not writing this, I'm just recounting what happens

This entry is a bit of an awkward read. The structure of it confuses me and I think some punctuation is missing.

Andrew Denton

Panel 3, "You are", doesn't follow as a response to the last statement.

D

"Wait, _that_'s what he told you? Oh shit, we thought he's been telling everyone something else the whole time"

valsalia

Oh whoops! Kal's 2nd paragraph on dialogue on panel 2 didn't get switched to its updated form. Thanks for catching that! Fixx'd

valsalia

"We don't actually know what he says down there these days, we just assume"

Roscuro

I'm just waiting for one of Val Salia's people, or the man himself, to meet with the baxxids and tell them "No, this was an absolute win. Thieves were getting so brazen that they stole a trinket, not even a necessity like food, right in front of, not just a guard, but a baxxid guard. With this incident, a petty thief has been removed from the city and the dredges will think twice about challenging the guard for a while." Or something like that

Avi Brandier

His deepseated shame is having its best possible day

Vicroc4

As well you should. She's supposed to be a Blade, sworn to the service of the Dragonborn. If you say that Paarthurnax lives, she should just shut up and deal with it instead of throwing a hissy fit.

They feel the need to kill and feed. They have learned to control it….hide it from the humans. They put on the dressings of being civilized but inside them all they are still hunters, killers, dangerous. The Elders are admitting they still feel that way inside….Kal however views it differently as he has grown up civilized…never had to hunt….doesn’t feel the urge to kill and feed.

"I'M NOT A WEAPON!" cries Kalgkur Knives-for-hands Kalgkur

Thorin N. Tatge

...So our purpose is to dance with tutus on the edge of the moonlit tarns? While chewing Pop Rocks?

Thorin N. Tatge

That does seem somewhat reasonable, but if I were living there, I'd definitely be a bit more nervous in my daily business if I knew I might be executed without due process in case of a misunderstanding.

Roscuro

From what I've seen of the city, people don't really care. Plus, we've already seen that the trinket maker is in full defense of our boy. Plus, it's a merchant city. Trade is the life blood of the city, they'll feel more at ease knowing thieves can't be so brazen.

Thorin N. Tatge

Flora P-Stilianides' theory from last time is feeling increasingly likely. It looks like the elders are about to tell Kalkgur that baxxids were literally created for the purpose of killing humans, possibly by other humans. Maybe some biological alchemist wizard conjured them up to be super-soldiers in some ancient war, and they later started living on their own and thinking for themselves, and decided they actually wanted to live in peace instead.

Aulderbane

It's just a TRIBUTE~

Flora P-Stylianides

Kalghur rlly doesn't seem to be taking it well. I hope he'll be okay

Shyster

If it is the case that Baxxid society is a veneer over a biological desire to fight, feast, and f**k, I am wondering of the Baxxid are under the impression that human society is *not* the same thing. Because it basically is. An analogy I've seen is that civilized human society is like a clearing in the middle of a fast-growing jungle. if its not tended and maintained, the jungle will swiftly take back over, and when humans let the jungle take over, you get something akin to Fallout meets Mad Max meets Lord of the Flies. It would be amusing if the Baxxid think that the humans are the ones who have their s**t together and the Baxxid the ones who need to hide the incivility that lurks underneath.

valsalia

People got all sorts o' different opinions about things 'round these parts!

valsalia

But what if,,, the giant clawed boneworms were the real monsters all along!!??

valsalia

"You know, not every race has that KILL ALL HUMANS drive"

valsalia

It's extra complicated when there's several different species bringing their own jungles

Vet

Humans can be worse monsters. Baxxids are just doing what they do.

Thorin N. Tatge

Nice insight, but when they claim that fear drives us to violence in accordance with our nature, it doesn't sound like an attestation that we have our s**t together.
