Comments

Chadwick Von

Almost famous is legit. Nice recommendation.

Henry Graham

God damn, I can't believe how close I came to being picked there! Congrats, Mark.

Roy Wright

Nice recommendation Mark. Always impressed with my fellow Schmittheads on their recommendations

John Fitzpatrick

Almost Famous. Good choice!! Samantha looks different with glasses on.

Brandon Meng

Instantly becomes my favorite Schmitthead Monthly Movie winner

Matthew Maxon

Congratulations Mark. I haven't seen this myself. Looking fwd to it.

Boris-N

Congrats Mark. Now you're famous

Guston Zimasheen

Congratulations Mark. What an awesome choice.

EdmanXERO

Sam looks adorable in glasses. Daniel looks like an undercover cop in glasses. XD Congrats, Mark!

Jen Barnes

Congrats Mark! This is one of the best movies ever. Love it!

Lee N.

Congratulations, Mark. I saw this movie once with a buddy of mine on DVD in the baracks when I was active duty military. I don't remember a single thing about it... 😁. 😊👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Abel Salas Jr

Good pick. Almost Famous is an excellent movie.

Scott Kerr

Nice frames Sam! You look great!

PIG

I love how easy your fans are on you guys. Just fuzzy feel good popcorn movies. Not my taste… but I’m glad for you lol

Paul Cox

Nice! I've been wishing they'd react to this one for a long time! Congrats, Mark. Daniel is right about the famous director; it's Cameron Crowe. He also wrote Fast Times at Ridgemont High, though these two films aren't really alike at all.

Duncan

Daniel to the optician - ''give me the most unsuitable, obscure glasses, that make me look like the biggest nerd in an 80's high school movie'' Sam to the optician - ''give me what he is getting, but even worse'' 👓👓❤️❤️

f hf

Great movie

Birdie Num Num

Nice pick. The previous winners were Death of Stalin, The Paper, Sneakers, What Lies Beneath, 48 Hrs, Swordfish, Patriots Day, The Kid Detective, Assassination of Jesse James, Serendipity, Andromeda Strain, 3 Women, Sling Blade, Six Days Seven Nights, The Elephant Man, War Games, Grosse Pointe Blank. Oldest title is Andromeda Strain (1971). Most recent title is Kid Detective (2022)

Birdie Num Num

Will they be reacting to theatrical or "bootleg" cut?

Paul Cox

Which one is more common on the streamers? I vote for whatever's easiest to watch along with, since my DVD player is busted lol.

Joe J

New here, why was the entries deadline April 25th, not April 30th?

Domino

To be fair, look at how they reacted to Trainspotting. :P

Paul Cox

The deadline is always on the 26th, and the new post always goes up on the 2nd. As for why, you'd have to ask Sam, but it's been that way every month like clockwork.

Paul Cox

Yeah, The Elephant Man and 3 Women are full of warm fuzzies.

YoureMrLebowski

I'm concerned the Schmitts are going on the run...

Jonathan Patrick

The Famous director is Cameron Crowe who did Jerry Maguire. The other film he and Tom Cruise did together is “Vanilla Sky” , it’s must watch and one of my fave of all time.

Mark Kelso

Wow! Love this movie. Thanks, Mark!

Chris Bruneau

Excellent choice mark!!! From the man who brought us Jerry McGuire!!! Also, this film is semi auto biographical, as Crowe actually landed a job at rolling stone magazine at the young age of 15!!!! 😎

Smooticus

Rigged! Rigged I say! Almost Famous is pretty great. Haven't seen it in a while, so looking forward to it

Tyler Foster

It's already been brought up below, but I want to add to the voices that are noting this has two cuts. Both should be equally accessible on Amazon and most digital retailers and on disc. Might be a good idea to ask Mark if he has a preference as there are pretty significant additions!

Tyler Foster

I see the similarities: both are about capturing a certain moment in time, through the lens of youth. Could be nostalgic or taken at face value. And, of course, both have great soundtracks.

Tyler Foster

They're wearing the glasses now. They must already be on the run.

Eric Denney

Great movie. You'll enjoy it , whichever version you watch.

LIONEL BART'S OILVER NEVER SEEN MOVIE BEFORE SEND THIS WINNER MOVIE

David Martin

Great Movie. Cameron Crowe is the director. It's mostly an autobiography and it's nothing like Dazed and Confused.

Tyler Foster

I was only 26 slots away, if I counted right!

Florian Meier

This was the First Time i was in the Near :) Congrats Mark ... Good Film !!

PIG

No I’m talking about the random wheel drawings, not the polls! The personal favorites of these people are very kind hearted!! Us poll pickers are just devils hehe 😈

Future Boy

I've never even been on the same side of the wheel as the winner :( I'll try harder next time!

David Martin

There are two versions of Almost Famous. The theatrical version and the Director's Cut. But it's not called the Director's Cut. It's called "Untitled" and sometimes referred to as the Bootleg cut. Just Cameron Crowe keeping the feel of an era, where there were tons of live bootleg cuts of famous bands. I prefer "Untitled" to the theatrical release.

Paul Cox

Elephant Man, 3 Women, Sling Blade, The Andromeda Strain and maybe a couple others that I wouldn't consider light popcorn fare were all from the wheel. We might even have had a reaction to If... if that winner hadn't switched it to The Kid Detective (which still ended up pretty dark).

Florian Meier

:) Maybe we should Pray the Day Before :) 😀

PIG

Ah! Perhaps I stand corrected :)

Brandon

Excellent choice, one of my favourites on the wheel so far with Grosse Pointe Blank. Personally I like the 'Untitled' bootleg cut more, but I'm plenty happy either way.

Paul Cox

I jinxed it by saying "like clockwork" I guess lmao

Abby

It’s All Happening!!!!

Eugene

Almost Famous is awesome great choice!

OddThomas

Great choice. Vanilla Sky is another great Cameron Crowe movie.

Ray Johnson

Hold me closer tiny dancer

TBR Schmitt

Ooh idk! If they’re both readily available then we need to reach out to Mark and ask! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

It gives us time to get this video prepped and filmed before the end of the month and before new polls go up! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

😂 we usually film this on filming days when we’re all ready but I was packing for a trip so you get blind Sam instead! -Sam

Mark Gettemeyer

Holy crap, I should REALLY check in here more often! 😅😅😅 SUPER stoked that you guys are watching this! As we emailed each other, the theatrical release is great (I think you’ve already watched it) Mega-Mark points for getting the last name right! 😁😅🙏🏼✌🏻

Jim Morrish

love almost famous, great flick
