tbh I haven't seen The Insider in at least 20 years, so I'm looking forward to this watch-along.

Jim Morrish

when ye finish saul check out 'andor', it's superb

Shehab Dawoud

Very happy that The Insider is getting a reaction! It’s a great film. Very underrated, but unfortunately because it’s 99% dialogue, it’s not one that gets recommended too much to reactors. Any insight on what’ll happen now that BCS is ending? If you haven’t got a new show lined up, it could be a good time to go back to doing 2 movies a week for the next month or so? That way you can get through HP a bit faster.

Brandon

I don't mean to over hype it, but The Insider was quite possibly even better filmed than Heat... which is almost hard to believe. 😆

Will D

The Insider is scary because its mostly true.

Henry Graham

THE INSIDER! YES! Mann's masterpiece, I think, and a film that feels just as powerful and relevant today as it did 25 years ago.

Jeffrey Miller

I can't wait to see the finale of BCS with you guys!

YoureMrLebowski

Michael Clayton (2007) is poll worthy. 🙂

Jonathan Patrick

Insider Michael Manns best film other than Heat, imo. Cannot wait!

Tyler Foster

Greatest week of all time? The end of "BCS" and one of my most-wanted reactions from you two?

PIG

Absolutely cannot wait for The Insider.

Chris Bruneau

love the Insider!!! great Michael Mann pick! BTW, Heat 2 is in pre-production, how exciting :)

PIG

🤯!!!!!

PIG

Absolutely agreed.

Backlog Andy M.

Insider. Russell Crowe had to lose the weight from this film 🎥 his next film Gladiator!

Tyler Foster

Don't believe everything you read online. The last official update on Heat 2 is from March, which was Mann saying he turned in the script. There is a more recent article online but it is from one of the most disreputable sites online, World of Reel, which makes up BS for clicks -- a few years back there was this website We Got This Covered that eventually everyone came to recognize was completely fabricated, and World of Reel is like that. If you can't read it in Deadline, The Hollywood Reporter, or Variety, take it with a grain of salt, and if it's from World of Reel or Jordan Ruimy, just assume it's a complete lie. I do think it will probably happen, and they're working on it, but even if it's all likely, they don't even officially have a greenlight as of yet.

I remember reading the synopsis of The Insider before watching it years ago and thought it sounded boring. Now I consider it one of the best films of the 90s and my 2nd favorite Mann movie. He was unstoppable in the 90s.

Robert Durant

Yes can’t wait for The Insider, one of Pacino’s best roles in my opinion.

Paul Cox

I agree. Getting through HP faster is good for both the people really into it and the people who aren't.

pete

Have the two of you watched Squid Game yet?, if not I would love to see your reaction.

Tyler Foster

That's what I think too. I would rather have the second slot taken up by HP so they can be done with them than a show. We're already down four movies a month! Obviously, it's subjective, but since I don't care for HP I don't want to lose one more movie spot!

Tyler Foster

and maybe they don't want to watch an HP every week so maybe we could go back to two movies but no show and alternate HP every week, like HP2 on the 16th and HP3 on the 30th and in between we'd get, like, a really close poll winner, like the 1-vote loser Face/Off.

Florian Meier

Yeah Insider is great !! But i can't wait for Dances with Wolves ;)

Robert Smith

hmm,, calling it Heat 2 would be just a cash grab.. Al Pacino at 86 soon, is far too old for such a part. And most of the others in the original are gone in real life or they died in the original so they can't return.

David Wilkins

Same here, and I remember feeling the same way about Quiz Show. Though I don’t put it in the same league, The Social Network sounded very dull ahead of watching it.

Matt DSM

Can’t wait to see what series you’ll be starting next. The Wire would certainly be great and my first choice 😊 I think I read that you’ve already watched Barry. Severance, White Lotus and The Bear are all recent gems. Or you can throw us all for a loop and crank out reactions to the Rockford Files!!

Shehab Dawoud

I'm still hoping it doesn't go through. The book did a good job of acting as a prequel and sequel. Yes, to those who don't know, Michael Mann wrote a novel a few years ago called Heat 2, which is what he wants to adapt into a movie. But that should've been done a few years after the movie, when the main characters were still in their prime and could've portrayed themselves as 7 years younger. Casting younger actors now just won't feel the same. It's a big book too; it spans 12 years, you can't fit all that in a movie just under 3 hours.

penoyer79

i'd also vote for The Wire as your next series - if you haven't seen it. It's 60 Episodes - roughly the same length as Better Call Saul.

Chris Bruneau

I read the novel, its a great story and Mann could easily recast for much younger actors.

Future Boy

If another show is replacing Better Call Saul, I'd also vote for The Wire. For me, it's second only to The Sopranos. But while the schedule's still reduced, I think 2 films a week and no TV show is a better option. A TV series means anyone not into that particular show loses half the schedule for months. But with 2 films, there's always something new coming, giving everyone multiple chances each week to find something they enjoy. It just seems fairer for all Patrons. (oh, and like everyone else, I can't wait for The Insider!)

VonPunk

Loved the BCS reactions, it's must watch for people like yourselves. Really hope you finish some of the other shows you started next, I'm dying for Fargo Season 4 & 5 and Reacher Season 3, but more True Detective, Gen V Season 1/The Boys Season 3 and The Many Saints of Newark would be very welcome too. Clear the decks for something like The Wire or Andor/Rogue One. TV reactions are what keeps me coming back. :)

Joel P

Can't wait for The Insider. An underrated gem and one of my top four favorite Mann films, up there with Heat, Collateral, and Last of the Mohicans.

Marcus Cato

That would be my ideal choice. It would complete my list of favorite TV shows after BCS and the Sopranos.

PIG

I would prefer new characters, actually. Oh well

TBR Schmitt

We are definitely no where near caught up in the Star Wars universe! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

We're still deciding! It's definitely more time consuming for two movies, especially HP with the movies being as long as they are, but we're definitely chatting this over and we'll see! There's so many shows we want to watch too! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Oh wow, looks at those falling on the same week, Tyler! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

We have seen the first season of Squid Game already! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

There are so many incredible shows we want to get to! I'm ready to quit my job to just veg on shows! LOL We've seen the first episode of Barry, but Daniel really wants to watch that one, we've seen all of White Lotus and the first season of The Bear! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Definitely on our short list! We might go something shorter and then circle back to another long series like between Sopranos and BCS! It's all up in the air! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

It's up in the air for now! We really enjoy doing shows on the channel! It builds of sense of community within that show's universe! We'd like to ramp the schedule back up again, but time has not allowed with my job right now! We'll see if things ease up here soon! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Thank you so much! I'm so sad it's over! Literally so many shows we want to watch!!! -Sam

Jim Morrish

it's a prequel to 'rogue one', have ye seen that? if so andor is essential

Reign

Would love to see you guys react to Succession or The Bear at some point if you guys haven’t seen either yet! Sad the BCS journey is over but had a blast rewatching as you guys were first time watching!

VonPunk

Yeah, the beauty of Andor/Rogue One is that you don't have to have seen any other Star Wars media (although having seen the original trilogy enhances it), it stands on it's own, none of the other new SW shows or films tie into it in any relevant way, so no catching up needed. Might be the best show ever for practical sets as well. A work of art.

Jim Morrish

for 'andor you don't need to be, though after watching it you'll defo wanna watch 'rogue one', together they are the best Star Wars has ever been imho, 'cept for maybe 'empire strikes back'... 'andor' is by Tony Gilroy who did the Bourne stuff I believe, he says 'don't think Star Wars, think John le carre'...

UNC

Need Succession ASAP!

penoyer79

That's good enough for me.

penoyer79

seasons 2 and 3 of Squid game could work well as a short series. probably get a ton of views too.

Samuel

PLEASE... MR ROBOT!

David

funniest comedy movie called george of the jingle

Brandon B.

They've already seen the entire series.
