Hey, wondering when Order of the Phoenix early YouTube edit will be out?

There are no bad HP films, but there are some that are weaker than others. This is one of them, imo. The 6th book is one of the best, mainly because it's really dark. In this movie, the teen love drama dominates the story, and it's essentially a rom-com more than anything. The book is great because it really dives into Voldemort's past. I believe we dive into 7 memories in total. In this movie, we only get 2. In the book memories, Harry and Dumbledore try to figure out how Voldemort became what he is and how he created his Horcruxes, and Dumbledore really confides in Harry, asks him for his opinion and theories, and really treats Harry as an equal. The two memories that we get in this movie are quite good, but even then, they are not as good as the ones in the book. In the movie, young Tom says: "I can make bad things happen to people who are mean to me", which implies that Tom was bullied and is sympathetic in a way. In the book he says: "I can make bad things happen to people who annoy me", which really emphasizes his evil. We also learn that he hung a boy's rabbit in the orphanage and that he once lured 2 kids into a cave and messed them up badly. He also appears arrogant, aggressive, and dominating the first time Dumbledore meets him, which was not shown in the movie. One memory that should've been in the movie, and I still don't know why it wasn't, is one where a younger Voldemort, before finally coming out as evil, meets Dumbledore and asks him for a teaching position at Hogwarts. Dumbledore, being suspicious, turns him down. Voldemort then places a curse on the Defense Against the Dark Arts post, which is why no teacher continues for more than one year. Instead of having that scene, they chose to include the one where the Weasley house gets attacked, which was NOT in the book and really adds nothing to the movie. You can listen to the audio of the Voldemort-Dumbledore meeting passage here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBSa20ghwhM Just a bit of Voldemort backstory: His mother Merope comes from the Gaunt family, descendants of Salazar Slytherin. Her father and brother physically and mentally abused her, which made her powers retract. Then, when her father and brother were sent to prison, her powers started to come out. She fell in love with the handsome Muggle Tom Riddle and smuggled him a love potion, and they ended up conceiving Tom Riddle Jr. But she felt bad about keeping Sr. trapped, so she stopped giving him the potion, hoping that he had fallen in love with her for real, which of course he didn't. He ended up leaving her while she was pregnant. She gave birth to Tom at the orphanage and died one hour later, requesting that his name be Tom Marvolo Riddle. The fact that Voldemort was conceived due to a love potion is the reason why he can't feel love. Years later, he found out about his family history, tracked down his father, and killed him and his whole family. He used the murder of his father to create one of the Horcruxes. The process of creating a Horcrux is more than just killing someone and splitting your soul. JK Rowling has said that there's more to the process, but she doesn't want to say it because of how horrific it is. Fans speculate that it could be something as bad as cannibalism or even necrophilia.. Yes, that's how horrible it could be, and Tom Riddle did it 7 times! The best parts about this movie are the performances of Tom Felton as Draco and Michael Gambon as Dumbledore. You really feel for Draco, and it emphasizes that while he's an asshole bully, a lot of that has to do with where he comes from. It's obvious that he doesn't want to be a Death Eater or have anything to do with that world. Michael Gambon's performance is the closest he comes to being the Dumbledore from the book. Much more light-hearted, eccentric, no shouting whatsoever. And he's still able to show how powerful he is and do the emotional, difficult scenes as well. Without spoiling too much, I'm not really looking forward to the next movie because the last book is split in two, which makes it difficult to make a satisfying part 1. I felt the same way about Dune Part 1. But I can't wait for the last one!

This is a good movie but a little hard to understand without reading the book, they left a lot of stuff out for sure. If you get a chance to read the series you won't regret it. I'm super excited for the last two movies, they are my favorites. R.A.B. took the real horcrux locket. Hmmmmm..... There are 7 horcruxes. They left the Snape explanation from the book out of the film. Snape's mother (maiden name Prince) was a pure-blood witch, while his father was a Muggle. Therefore Snape is a half-blood wizard, whose mother was from the powerful wizarding family, Prince.

Draco was crying so much due to the pressure he was under. His father was in prison, Voldemort ordered him to kill Dumbledore of all people, literally an impossible task for a 16 year old, and he knew Voldy would torture and kill him if he failed, he was struggling between trying to follow on his father's footsteps and actually having a conscious. And then Katie Bell, whom he had cursed, was up and about again and she could recover her memory at any moment and tell the teachers that he was the one who cursed her. That's when he went to bathroom and cried. He had just seen Katie for the first time and talking to Harry, no less. The stress was too much. And by the way, in book it's implied that Voldemort never expected Draco would succeed. In the unlikely event that Draco succeeded, then great, he wouldn't have to worry about Dumbledore anymore. But if he didn't succeed, Voldy would have an "excuse" to torture and kill Draco to punish Lucius for losing the prophecy in the previous book/movie. What Voldemort never counted on was that Draco's mother would convince Snape to make the unbreakable vowel, which would force him to try to kill Dumbledore if Draco failed. If Snape had also failed, Snape would have had his cover blown and Voldy would have lost one of his biggest assets.

Next to Prisoner of Azkaban and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, this is my favorite of the Harry Potter movies. The now older kid actors really start showing some acting chops (I particularly love Harry when he's sort-of kind-of high on luck), and the darker tone manages to take off here. And of course, any movie that puts Alan Rickman front and center is just good shit.

Yeah, this is one of my favorite books and probably my least favorite movie. There's just so much that makes absolutely no sense in this movie. The attack on the Burrow (the Weasley's house) being the worst of it. Samantha was right to expect some protections around the house, because in the books there is always A LOT of protection around the houses of everyone who is part of the Order of the Phoenix, ESPECIALLY when Harry is there. All the Voldemort memories in the book are SO interesting. The Gaunts, the Riddles, the stories from the orphanage, how charming he was when he was at Hogwarts, Voldemort's first job after Hogwarts... Each of them gives Harry a little bit of knowledge that helps him in the next book. And it also gives Voldemort's character and his story a lot more depth. It does a lot of setting up to make sure that the end isn't just down to "who's better at magic" (like the thing you mentioned how he can't understand love). I kind of get why the Half-blood Prince mystery was condensed to just a few scenes, even though it's the movie title. It's not super important to the overall story and it's a pretty long book, lots had to be cut. But the memories? Those should have been included. At least a few more of them. It also makes me mad that sometimes they take something from the book and make it the exact opposite in the movie. Like how in the movie Dumbledore says that Horcruxes can be "the most commonplace of objects", but in the book he makes a point of saying "technically it could be anything, but is this is VOLDEMORT we're talking about. You think he's gonna put his SOUL into any manky old boot?" (that wasn't a quote by the way, I'm very much paraphrasing haha). I suppose without all the memories in there, especially the Hepzibah memory, there was no way for the movie to show us what the horcruxes could be, so they had to say it could be "anything". Yet another reason the memories should have been included. Oh well...

Danilo C

By the way, this is not important at all, so much so that they scrapped it completely from the movie even though it's the book title, but... Snape is not a prince as in royalty or anything like that. His mother's maiden name was Prince and she was a witch. His father was a muggle (named Snape, obviously). So, just like Voldemort, he decided to give himself a "cool" nickname to distance himself from his muggle father's name. But since Snape was way less popular than Tom Riddle, the nickname never spread and instead "Snivellus" probably stuck more (what Harry's dad called him).

Unsubscribing for the 6/7 joke lol. I have no choice.

TBR Schmitt

VALID! I had to literally google it like a week ago because I didn't know what was happening lmao -Sam

TBR Schmitt

OH! I assumed the half blood part but definitely went straight to royalty hahah -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Yes, agreed! They're really coming into their own! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Okay woah, that's so much darker than I imagined! I did start to feel sorry for Draco but my anger prevailed hahah -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Can't believe Hermione dated Vigilante!

Jen Barnes

I would never! 😎People who spoil movies and TV shows are trash.

Rewatching this was so good, this really is top 3 Potter films. The ending is so emotionally powerful and mental at the same time, your faces during the observation tower scene,so good 😂 Well done to both of you for you thought process on the story and events. I remember watching this in the cinema, I got into Potter just before this film came out and never read the books and stayed away from info as I wanted to watch the last films blind and like you two I was over thinking about this and that from the films I've watched. Keep thinking on this, the initials in the little note you have already seen and heard, I myself worked it out when I watched this film, you actually hear the name in this film (I can't tell you as I want you two to get it, even though it's not a spoiler). I do want to point this out though so you don't get confused, the 7 items does not represent the body count of Voldermort,he could of killed millions theoretically but it's only 7 he mentioned in the memory flashback reveal. I love how this film was shot the special effects are so good. It's slower paced but not in a boring way and it's got a far more funnier feel at times also and it's so important to the story and reveals. Really looking forward to the next film, your are really going to find out pretty much everything in that film. Honestly strap in and keep thinking and lastly I'll repeat, people do not come back to life, it's not Disney😉.

the weird scene where death eaters attack the weasley house and they have a swamp duel for no reason isn't in the book at all. I wish instead of making that scene up for no reason and wasting screen time they included some other important scenes that were left out. Easily I think this book could've been made into two movies, but as it exists it's still my #2 out of all the movies.

Shehab Dawoud

Yeah the attack on the Burrow pisses me off because it actually could've been important. It was the first time Lupin came face-to-face with Fenrir Greyback, who bit him and turned him into a werewolf. But of course, that doesn't get explained, so the movie audience has no idea.

sharkey197

I am so loving your reactions to these films. If I could make a suggestion if possible to watch the last two films in quick succession? They are a wild ride. And I cant stand the waiting!

Matthew Maxon

When Harry & Draco fought in the bathroom, Mertyle was there & started yelling that Harry had killed Draco. Ceabbe & Goyle were both lookouts poly juiceed into a little girl who kept watching outside the Room of Requirement while Draco repaired the cabinet.

Aaron Barlow

You guys guessed quite a few plot twists. Amost as if you'd both seen the movies.

Aaron Barlow

I actually guessed immediately when I first saw this movie as he'd been mentioned earlier in the movie.

shenzi22

theyre not the type to lie about that

Aaron Barlow

I know, I mean, they're so on point with their predictions it's 'almost as if' they'd both seen the movies.

Dylan

I love how after your opening talk about Sirius the very first line of the film is ‘I killed Sirius Black!’ 😂

Matthew Maxon

In the book. Harry doesn't take all Luck. He takes some & the rest of Dumbledore's Army & the Aurors (I think them too) take a drop or 2 & it stops so many more from being killed.

Matthew Maxon

Dumbledore suspected but Harry confirmed it with the memory.

TBR Schmitt

Oh this makes sense! I was wondering why he'd just down the whole thing! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

LOL It was like let's slap the reality right back into you! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

OH! I was like why is he always alone this film but of course he wasn't acting alone! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Haha we are going to try our best to pump them out as fast as possible! I'd love to get them done back to back as well! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Oh woah, no way it wasn't in the book at all! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Thank you! Love that you also went in blind! How fun! I haven't stopped thinking about those initials since this one haha I'm excited to watch the next film, maybe it'll click! Ah, okay! I guess he just needed the seven, but not only seven. At least seven lol It's magic! Let us live in our alternate reality hahaha -Sam

TBR Schmitt

I guess it's from a song? Idk, all the kids are saying it these days haha -Sam

TBR Schmitt

A lot to unpack here, Shehab! Haha It's always interesting to hear people's rankings on the films! Seems like there's one for everyone! Aww I'd wish we'd seen more of that with Harry and Dumbledore! I adore their mentorship-like relationship, but that would have been really cool to see as well. Wow, what a stark difference a couple lines can make in the motivation with Tom as a child! Yes, someone else mention that scene not being in the book either which is very strange considering they can't fit everything into the movie, so adding scenes seems like a strange choice! That seems like it would have been a lot bigger of a reveal than what they included and exactly like Danilo said, weird that there were no protections with all those wizards there! Wow, that seems like some really important details about Voldemort!! None of this is covered in the movies at all? Tom Felton and Michael Gambon were fantastic in this! Draco is just a boy, what a mess his father dragged him into! Lucius has to be one of the worst people in this universe! Excited for the next two! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Should be this week! Daniel's finalizing the edit! -Sam

Jigsaws voice (SAW).... Let the games begin..... 😁😂😁😁 I love y'all's theory's and what is and what isn't lol remember when I said not all Slytherins are bad? Well professor slughorn isn't evil by any means but he's also not the bravest lol at the end of the day he does help Harry, that's what's important I'd say lol
