I love that Daniel always recognizes great sound design! Great movie! Great reaction!

Brandon

Great reaction, guys! Damn this movie is great. I love that this one establishes Cavill as the villain early on and then makes you wait nearly an hour to see how they figure him out. It's not quite my favorite, though. I still have a major soft spot for the first movie. As you pointed out in that reaction, there's plenty of action but only a little bit of gunfire. I'm still really impressed with that. It's really easy to miss, but The Widow played by Vanessa Kirby is the daughter of Max from the first film. She mentions Max in her introductory scene, but they don't put much attention on it. (sorry about the edits)

To jump back to M:I - Ghost Protocol, in case you didn't catch that comment, Dan was correct. The arms dealer that Ethan meets in Dubai was supposed to be Max/Maxine from the original Mission: Impossible, which is why the blonde guy from the first movie was there, and then Paramount refused to pay Vanessa Redgrave's fee, and the cameo was nixed. I was surprised you didn't put it together since you even remembered her name was Maxine, but as Brandon says, you can hear Vanessa Kirby's White Widow eulogizing Max as her mother. Max was also an arms dealer, and a broker, and on some level, the implication regarding the White Widow's long-standing relationship with the CIA is that it may actually have to do with the end of M:I, where Ethan's boss Kittridge is seen agreeing to let Max go as long as Max trades in some information. Not only was the stuff with Ethan dangling off the copter a real stunt, Cruise also learned to fly a helicopter for the movie, so many of the crazy piloting shots are Cruise actually flying the helicopter. Another real stunt that is somewhat masked by digital effects work for the sake of the story is the halo jump at the beginning, when Ethan and Walker drop into Paris (although I don't know how much of it was real, just that some of it was authentic). Another famous incident from the filming of the movie involves that great shot following Cruise as he jumps across two buildings, after which he pulls himself onto the roof and hobbles away. He hobbles because Cruise accidentally broke his foot doing the stunt, yet he fought through the pain to finish the shot anyway. If you search on YouTube, there's a funny video of Cruise with other members of the cast discussing it on the UK's "Graham Norton Show." When Christopher McQuarrie successfully convinced Sean Harris to sign on as Solomon Lane for Mission: impossible - Rogue Nation, he had one request: kill him off, so he didn't have to come back for sequels. Not only did McQuarrie cut the scene that convinced Harris to be in the film, he also had to sheepishly come to him and admit he left him alive, allowing him to come back here...and then he didn't kill the character again! Also, another reminder to brush up on your memory of the original movie just a bit ahead of the next one (although if you're also going to take a short break before finishing, it would be better to do it now rather than between the last two films).

I'm so glad there's someone who goes into such detail about the film's background and explains things so well. I think there are behind-the-scenes videos on YouTube of the Halo jump, the chase scene in Paris, and of course, the helicopter stunts. They're truly spectacular. I don't know if posting YouTube links is allowed here, but if you search for "Behind the Scenes of Mission Impossible Fallout," you'll definitely find something.

Thanks for your next great reaction! You and The Media Knights are my absolute favorite reaction channels. I'm always eagerly awaiting the next one. Sometimes I wish I could fast-forward through time to get to your next reaction faster. I hope I can enjoy many more movies and series with you. Greetings from Germany. ❤️🤘

In my opinion, the franchise should of ended here. Everything about this movie is the epitome of what makes Mission Impossible great. I love the overall theme of this movie being that the 1 life is just as important as the millions and how they reintroduce that concept several times in the movie. Ethan and Julia getting their closure was so heart warming, and the final fight between Ethan and Walker with the helicopter chase was so well done.

Fallout is so good! My third favorite behind the first and the one that comes after this one, so I'm definitely very exited for your next reaction!

Jen Barnes

For an even better Henry Cavill performance, I recommend The Man from UNCLE. Bonus, it's from Guy Ritchie!

Robert Durant

The waiting for the two of you to upload this reaction has made for one of the longest weeks ever. The last two months went by quicker than this week, I was anticipating it that much and I wasn't disappointed. I knew the two of you would instantly pick this movie as your favorite of the series with all the stress and thrills you were put through. I would count this as one of my top M:I Fallout reactions along with PiB and Cinebinge.

Dan Holmes

You guys gotta watch The Count of Monte Cristo for some baby Henry Cavill! It's a great film as well :)

I don't think I've seen a reaction where Samantha's mouth hangs open more than this one lol :)

EdmanXERO

I swear, that might be one of the coolest and most brutal villain deaths I've ever seen. This is definitely one of my top 2 Mission Impossible movies. Just incredible.

Tyler Foster

Yes, definitely The Man From UNCLE.

I like the last two, but if they had ended here, it would've been fine too. Although what I would be most interested to see is whether the last two would've turned out any differently in a world with no pandemic wreaking havoc on the production of both films.

Andrew Patterson

Hi Daniel and Sam!! Love your guys reactions to this franchise thus far, can’t wait for last two!! Trivia for you guys, when they introduce the white widow in this film where Ethan and her 1st meet she’s giving speech about her mother who passed away, her mother is Max from the 1st movie who originally worked with Ethan, that’s why Ethan has that expression on his face when she says the name Max as he walking into the banquet room area. Another great call back to the 1st film. Paramount sucks right now!!

Lee Hutchinson

Where is the EA version, it’s been like nearly 5 months!
