None of these titles ring a bell, let me do my research then I'll be back to vote 😁

Smooticus

So many choices, the winning movie might only get 10 votes lol

Sergeant Pepper

I got you Dan - Basic Instinct. UHD of course - IYKYK 😆

Jax

I think you mean Sliver (1993). It's ok, but I mostly remember it for the UB40 music video lol. Quite a few on this list I think you both would like, so looking forward to whatever ends up winning

Michael SCH

Wow, I didn't think Wild Things would get that many votes. Lots of kinky folks around here! LOL!

Hunter DeRensis

For future thriller polls I recommend Martin Scorsese's After Hours (1985), Akira Kurosawa's High and Low (1963) and The Bad Sleep Well (1959), Michael Mann's Thief (1981), and Henri-Georges Clouzot's The Wages of Fear (1953).

Tyler Foster

Fingers crossed Basic Instinct pulls this one off, but I'd love Body Heat, Play Misty For Me, a couple of others. Also, between a '90s thriller like some of the ones on this list, and another movie you've watched recently, fingers crossed for the dreadfully underrated Jim Carrey dark comedy The Cable Guy (1996), celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

Birdie Num Num

I've thought about High and Low for my spin wheel pick. Or Ikiru. Been a while since they've done Seven Samurai and Kurosawa hasn't done well in the foreign film polls since unfortunately. The Academy Museum in LA is doing a Kurosawa retrospective April through May - they are showing pretty much every film he made!

Birdie Num Num

I've been picking Body Heat for the spin wheel most of the last year.

Chris Bruneau

Basic instinct is great--may be a little tough to edit, tho (lots of sex scenes) LOLOL

Birdie Num Num

Well, its also the most recent film on the poll. Lots of young millenials and Gen Z here(based on the comments on The Mummy 1999 - comments that made me feel a hundred years old)

Birdie Num Num

C'mon De Palma fans, its been a minute since any of his films were in a poll! You are allowed multiple votes.

John Fitzpatrick

If you're guys are going to watch Dressed to Kill, watch the unrated version.

John Fitzpatrick

Also, if Dressed to Kill and Body Double are on here, you have to include De Palma's Blow Out.

Paul Cox

Poll's only an hour or so old, but it already seems like the real race here is between Basic Instinct and Wild Things. I like but don't love both, but I also think either film will make for a banger reaction, so we're in a good place.

PastaDon

Yep some of these are the movies that made you say, "shit I hope my mother doesn't walk in the room"

Jax

I'm in the same boat with liking but not loving either. Basic Instinct is more of a pop culture icon, but I think Wild Things actually has a more fleshed out storyline

Philip Alan

Basic Instinct please win!

Florian Meier

My favorite Poll of All Time !!! Every Film is great !!! But Basic Instinct !!! Yes Yes Yes !!!

YoureMrLebowski

These polls are usually over within 5 hours. This one may go down to the wire. Wild Things (1998) please and thank you. 🏆

Jennifer

Wild Things!! That would be so great. Such a cool Florida noir film with a great cast, mystery etc. So great.

Jimbob

Where’s Showgirls?

To Wa

"No Way Out" (1987) should be on this list. And "Black Sunday" (1977).

Shehab Dawoud

A Basic Instinct-Wild Things double feature would be epic.

Birdie Num Num

Blow Out was in a thriller poll last summer(lost to Donnie Darko) and a Drama Poll a few years ago. It used to be mentioned a lot in the comments a few years ago(think the most vocal patrons from that time are gone). I've sort of given up on it being reacted to at this point unless it wins the spin wheel. I think a Travolta poll was floated around a while back, maybe that would be another shot for it.

Florian Meier

Yes but on a travolta poll blow out has no Chance against Face Off i think

f hf

Back then Wild Things had us changing the channel quick whenever someone walked into the room LOL

CherryPi

Copycat (1995) is missing here - such an underrated gem! With Holly Hunter and Sigourney Weaver.

Nick Stark

Basic Instinct and Body Heat would make an awesome double header.

Nick Stark

Body Heat is incredibly good

Nick Stark

Basic Instinct & Body Heat as a Double Feature

Nick Stark

BLOW OUT is definitely one of De Palma’s BEST FILMS

Renee S

Man, there's a lot of ones on here I'd love to see, but I know they probably won't come close :) I'd be happy if you guys went down this list and watched pretty much all of them

Eric

Man, the 90s were really a time for that kind of thriller. I never thought about it until seeing this list.

Ken Veader

Sliver is a great erotic thriller

Paul Cox

Basic Instinct is really pulling away from Wild Things now on day 2 with (at the time of this post) 623 total votes. It'll probably win, but I'll be interested to see if Wild Things can regain some of its early momentum.

David Wilkins

I’m very happy to see Basic Instinct with a strong lead. It was controversial in its time, and should make for a great reaction. It’s one of a couple more that will nicely round out the Michael Douglas journey.

Paul Cox

Would Wall Street be one of the couple? I kind of actively dislike that one, but also feel like it's worth seeing for anyone working their way backwards through film history.

John Fitzpatrick

In my opinion, Blow Out is De Palma's masterpiece.

David Wilkins

Technically it might be, but I’ve never lived it. The other ones that I consider a must, are Wonder Boys, Traffic, and The China Syndrome, even though he really isn’t a key part of that movie. But I think Wonder Boys is his best role.

Brian Anthony

I feel like Basic Instinct already had a good chance to get on the channel eventually and we’re missing the chance to get a lesser known or forgotten gem to win.Not mad at it being ahead but just my 2 cents.

Browniewin

Body Heat, if you watch the theatrical release version

Birdie Num Num

Since you brought up Wonder Boys, I highly recommend another Curtis Hanson film that happens to be in the poll - Bad Influence(one of 2 Hanson films in the poll actually) Bad Influence was also written by David Koepp who went on to become one of the most successful screenwriters of all time(Jurassic Park, Mission Impossible, Spider-Man, War of the Worlds, the upcoming Disclosure Day)

Birdie Num Num

I'm sure no one cares, but these are the films with the highest scores on metacritic. Play Misty for Me 78 Body Heat 77 Dressed to Kill 74 And 3 of the films in the poll were nominated for Worst Picture at the 1993 Razzies (Indecent Proposal, Sliver, Body of Evidence)

Future Boy

I'll be very excited to see Basic Instinct on the channel. It'll make for a great reaction! I hope to see pretty much everything on this poll make it to the channel over time.

Future Boy

If you go down one level from Michael Douglas's best, there are still quite a few others I'd love to see at some point: Black Rain The American President A Perfect Murder The Ghost and the Darkness Coma But Wall Street would be the obvious next one.

Florian Meier

I would say - Wall Street - The Ghost and The Darkness - Black Rain - COMA - The China Syndrome - Wonderboys - Traffic

Florian Meier

But i also love "The Jewel of the Nile", "A Perfect Murder" and "Disclosure"

Duncan

Top 5 from this poll in the coming months 🙏

ErikEatsMovies

A Sam Peckinpah poll would be great. He made movies like "The Wild Bunch" (1969), "Straw Dogs" (1971) or "Getaway" (1972), and influenced a lot of other directors.
