Bowfinger (1999) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Although this film is just a mild comedy at best, I find the highway crossing scenes so hilarious. As a recommendation for a far superior Steve Martin film I would recommend Dirty rotten scoundrels with Michael Cane as to co-lead.

+1 for "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" (1988). Eddie Murphy has the wildest stories from his heyday just after "SNL". Hanging out with Marlon Brando, an encounter with Prince, Paul McCartney playing a classic Beatles for Eddie, as told to Seth Meyers on his late night show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyCs9SH2Deg

Bowfinger is fun, but my favorite Steve Martin movie is LA Story. His love letter to teh city of LA in the 80's and 90's. Sam & Daniel woiuld love it

Always loved Bowfinger !!! Eddie Murphy was always fantastic in multiple Roles like in "Coming to America" ... you see a lot of his top films like 48 Hours and Trading Places and of course Beverly Hills Cop ... i would recommend "The Golden Child", "Boomerang" and "Beverly Hills Cop 3" ( i know many don't like the Third one, but i love it)

Personally, I think Jif might be one of Eddie Murphy's all-time best comic performances. Surprised that people prefer the middle-of-the-road (but still enjoyable) Dirty Rotten Scoundrels [MGM], which for me is stolen by Glenne Headly (RIP). As I said in the chat, my top Martin recommendation for the channel is his debut, The Jerk (1979) [Universal], directed by Carl Reiner (Saul in the Ocean's movies, Rob's dad). I think it shares a bunch of DNA with Bubble Boy (or more accurately, Bubble Boy is deeply indebted to The Jerk). As for Murphy, my top recommendation would be the great true story comedy Dolemite is My Name (2019) [Netflix], where he plays Blaxploitation filmmaker Rudy Ray Moore. Would be great to watch Dolemite (1975) [independently owned] to go with it -- YMMV on whether it would be better to watch it before or after. And, of course, as I have also said, the best Frank Oz film is definitely Little Shop of Horrors [Director's Cut] (1986) [Warner Bros.]. On a channel where I get requests, I had them watch the DC and then the theatrical ending (the only difference between the two cuts, about 12 extra minutes or so beyond the length of the DC), and then they were able to talk about both endings afterwards.

The one huge problem with Murphy for the channel is that he made so many of his movies at Paramount -- everything in your comment, for example, other than Bowfinger, is a Paramount movie. The biggest Murphy title they could tackle outside of Paramount right now is probably The Nutty Professor (1996) [Universal].

Love this movie its silly, stupid and fun.

This might be the last time I really, truly enjoyed Eddie Murphy in something. The movie itself is just okay (in my not so humble opinion), but Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy make it much better that it deserves.

TBR: The Bowfinger Reaction. 🤣 Great reaction, guys. This movie is such an underrated classic. I don't care how many times I watch it, that highway scene hurts my stomach every time. LMAO "HEAVENLY GOD, HEAVENLY GOD!!!!" 😂 If you want more Eddie Murphy, I highly recommend "The Golden Child".

My aunt took us to see a lot of movies when we were kids(including this).I only remembered the highway scene for some reason but glad I rewatched this with you guys lol.It was hilarious.

Terrance Stamp, the actor who played the leader of Mind Head also played Superman’s Nemisis General Zod in the 1st 2 Christopher Reeves Superman movies.

Steve Martin is great with everyone. Check him out in Roxanne, Little Shop of Horrors, House Sitter, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

I love this movie, I knew you guys would like it, too. I noticed that Sam was really shaking with laughter during much of it. I remember seeing this when it was new on cable around 2000 when I was about 12 years old and it was an instant classic for me.

I haven't seen this in Years, forgot how hilarious that was :) You should check out I Spy (2002) with Eddie Murphy and Owen Wilson Also hilarious and unfortunately completely forgotten and overlooked Yeah it's no masterpiece but it's great for laughs Also please check out The Fountain (2006) it's weird, you'll love it

Sam's face at 1:18:45 is PRICELESS

Fun Fact: This film was directed by the voice of Yoda from Star Wars (Frank Oz). He also does Ms Piggy, Cookie Monster, Animal from the Muppets, Grover, Fozzy Bear and Bert of Bert and Ernie.

You're right Tyler ... I think every Eddie Hit in the 80's is Paramount ... Beverly Hills Cop 2 is banned from Youtube ... So we hope Paramount spare the Rest... But i would love to see a reaction to The Golden Child ;)

Honestly, this would have made a great concept for a Muppet movie. Everyone's a Muppet except Eddie Murphy and Steve Martin. And Kit's brother is Fozzie.

You guys need to watch Ed Wood . A lot of the things you liked in this movie about people who have a passion and commitment for making movies but.not the means or maybe not the talent, are also in Ed Wood (plus it’s a (mostly) true story!) Frank Oz also directed What About Bob? another comedy worth checking out- with Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfus. I also noticed Barry Newman (Kit’s agent) and Terrance Stamp (The head of Mind Fff-Head- man I love how this movie skewered Scientology) were both in a movie called The Limey. Not a comedy, but definitely worth checking out.

Love Murphy in Dolemite is My Name. He’s so good in that but because it was only on Netfilx i think it’s gone largely unnoticed.
