Follow That Dream is my favourite Elvis song.

Paul Cox

I've seen probably half of Elvis's filmography thanks to my aunt, but this is one I haven't seen. Looking forward to my first watch tonight!

So very happy you both enjoyed this movie that much. I think the trouble most people have with Elvis was he released like 25-30 movies and especially towards the end of his career they were very formulaic and just basically cookie cutter types. Just trying to sell music and we can make up some silly plot. Where as this movie was actually based on a book. The writer from what I heard wasnt to thrilled that Elvis was gonna play Toby but after seeing the courtroom scene was very impressed. So yep you can tell people you actually watched and Elvis movie and actually enjoyed it. You both are a lot of fun to watch and look forward to seeing more.

It was my mom and aunt that made us watch all the Elvis movies. Before I went to streaming my sisters and I just got my mom DVDs of TV shows and movies. I think we were up to 19 Elvis movies lol.

That was such a good time! Thanks for your suggestion, Will S! I know Daniel said he doesn't want to tempt fate by rolling the dice on another Elvis movie, but I give my full endorsement to King Creole (1958).

King Creole is definitely the one I'd go with although I'd be happy to give Viva Las Vegas a spin as well, as I've never seen it. I've never seen this either, so I snagged a 7-film Elvis box set on DVD via eBay for $15 and it's on the way.

Really glad you guys liked this film! I don't think this is one of the Elvis films I've seen before, but I really enjoyed it. Obviously, the musical scenes are dated, as they just used the recorded songs over the film, but overall, I thought it was really fun.

I do love the varitey this reaction channel does. Only Elvis films i have watched is Love Me Tender. And King Cerole. Carolyn Jones of the addams family and Walter Matthau as the heavy. Orginally meant for James Dean as a boxer. Changed to a singer for Elvis!

I never felt that Elvis was the problem with “Elvis movies”. The problem was that they were so formulaic. It was a strategy pushed by his manager Tom Parker. Elvis longed to be a respected serious actor, but that ran in opposition to what Parker wanted. Which was to maximize the upfront money and minimize the production costs of the studio. The “Elvis Formula” studios realized that pairing Elvis with lighthearted romance, exotic locations, and a quota of 10 to 12 generic songs guaranteed a massive financial return. So they’d put him in exotic locations with an exciting job (Cliff diver, race car driver) and a predictable conflict. He was good in Flaming Star which was 1 of his more serious acting turns.
