Help pick the New York Based film we will react to!

Please feel free to suggest other options in the comments for future polls!

NOTE: Polls have a shorter duration! Make sure to vote!

Daniel has seen American Gangster, so it would only be Sam's first time watching!

I promise I had to cut out like 10 films from this poll so sorry it’s long! Also, sorry I thought I had it scheduled for 9 PM but I accidentally scheduled it for tomorrow 🥴 -Sam

Roy Wright

Loaded poll. Nice choices. Another great New York movie at least IMO is Night Shift with Michael Keaton and Henry Winkler

Claudia

ahhh so many good ones!!

Hunter DeRensis

Spectacular choices here, especially Scorsese's After Hours, King of Comedy, and Mean Streets. The Taking of Pelham One Two Three would also be great. I hope recency bias doesn't help American Gangster too much.

Athos Count de la Fère

Damn. As a former Bronx resident this poll is difficult to choose from. There are several different eras that are depicted in these films. I also suggest "A Most Violent Year" 2014. That brought back so many memories of New York at that time.

To Wa

"Manhattan" is perhaps one of the most beautiful films ever made.

Michael SCH

The poll is stressing me out, so I'm just voting for whichever films has the least votes!

Tyler Foster

Suggestions for future Los Angeles-based film poll: • Double Indemnity (1944) • In a Lonely Place (1950) • Valley Girl (1983) • Repo Man (1984) • Short Cuts (1993) • Devil in a Blue Dress (1995) • Limey, The (1999) • magnolia (1999) • Inherent Vice (2015)

Florian Meier

Really a great poll ... Hoping for Marathon Man or Wall Street

Mike the Ginger

I voted for The Taking of Pelham 1, 2, 3 as well as The King of Comedy and Saturday Night Fever. We should have three versions of this poll LOL

Dan Holmes

I know you’ve already seen it in one of your best reactions, but my favorite New York film by far is Die Hard 3 😊

penoyer79

Mean Street or Wall Street for me.

Keith Brown

Missed two classics - On The Town(1949) -about three sailors on a 24 hour NYC shore leave was filmed on location and Guys and Dolls(1955) both have Frank Sinatra by chance.

thomas king

The Pope of Greenwich Village, Once Upon a Time in America, The King of New York Christopher Walken and a loaded cast, Death Wish 1974, The Wanders, 25th Hour., Escape from New York, King Kong 1933.

Max Rinaldi

Ah, ok. I was wondering about "Once upon a time in America" by Sergio Leone.

Ian

Being English and the world cup is going on rn don't have time to watch much else so just hear to wish you both an amazing week and hope you're not melting in the heat like we are . Metallica Sunday is going to be brutal 🥵🤘

Mario

If you ever do another New York based film, I'd suggest adding "Saturday Night" (2024) to the list.

Smooticus

Sooooo many movies!!!

Smooticus

I gasped when i saw King of New York wasn't on teh list. A great 90's indy neo noir with Christopher Walken

24fps_

Gordon Willis is one of the greats!

Indy Traveler

Next Poll: movies not based in NYC - it will be shorter 😉. Sammmm, you forgot Moscow on the Hudson, and about a million more....

Donna Castellano

If you do Pelham, I hope the remake ends up on a future poll. I love both versions for different reasons. Avoid the TV movie version tho. Despite it having Vincent D'Onofrio, it was godawful!

Joe Lazarus

If you decide to make a second NYC Poll, here are a few more titles from a very famous NYC filmmaker Spike Lee,you might want to include along with Summer of Sam.. "Do The Right Thing" (1989) "Jungle Fever" (1991) "Clockers" (1995) "25th Hour" (2002) "He got game" (1998) Can't get any more New Yorker than those films lol

Chris Bruneau

these films are all great, hopefully you guys will do a chi-town poll someday, lot of great movies made in my hometown!!!

Bryan David

"Anora" (2024) "Frances Ha" (2012) "The Squid and the Whale" (2005)

Korny

I need Wall Street and Margin Call badly.

Shehab Dawoud

Probably the poll where the most great films have been left out. Once Upon a Time in America Do The Right Thing King of New York New Jack City Juice He Got Game I’ve left out a lot myself but those are the ones I miss the most.

Jason Dolan

Wall Street is probably my favorite on this list

Birdie Num Num

Guessing not many here have seen Prince of the City...

Birdie Num Num

Other NY Films not mentioned: The Apartment On the Waterfront Midnight Cowboy Sweet Smell of Success Uncut Gems

Tyler Foster

Also, please never, ever watch the 2009 remake. Possibly my least-favorite remake of all time, one that completely destroys every bit of personality and humor in the original in favor of one actor shrieking and one actor on autopilot. You've seen them both already, but Unstoppable and Inside Man are both better Pelham riffs from Denzel and Tony Scott.

Chris Baldwin

Where is one of the most famous New York movies ever?? "Dog Day Afternoon". If you already have seen it, I apologize. A true story that I can say I saw first hand. I was visiting my best friend in Jamaica, Queens in August of 1972, when this took place. So we took the subway into Manhattan to watch the event that was the basis for the film actually happen..

Dee Aitch

This poll makes me realize how little I care about New York. Write-in vote for "Metropolitan" for next time I guess. I love me some Whit Stillman.

David Wilkins

So many great ones here that will NEVER win a poll. It’s a movie lover’s tragedy. But that’s the way it goes. 🎬

Chris Baldwin

My apologies again. I should have just done a search for it first. Short and long term memory loss. Those are just excuses Sam! Sorry again, Chris

Paul Cox

Not that the Muppets movies can't be enjoyed out of order, but have either/both of you seen the original 1979 movie at any point? You've got enough watches under your belts now to probably recognize most of the cameos, and it's such a pure joy of a movie!

Vincent Hollow

I would definitely love more Muppets/Jim Henson films. I recently saw the original Muppet Movie and Muppets Take Manhatten for the first time and I thought they were both fantastic!
