Help pick the Body Horror movie we will react to for Spooky Season!

Please feel free to suggest other options in the comments for future polls!

NOTE: Daniel has seen Slither, so this will only be Sam's first time watching!

Comments

Paul Cox

Would've voted for the original Suspiria (1977), though it's barely a horror at all. More of a very colorful fever dream.

Richard

Cabin fever is a must watch

iliketostayhome

Just glad to see Eraserhead on the list.

iliketostayhome

First time I saw Eraserhead I had been up for 27 hours, and didn't know what I was getting into. Probably the best way to watch it.

Ian

Not seen many of these tbh I had the ending to cabin fever ruined for me so have never watched it and never will so voted for the blob for no reason other than it sounds terrible lol

TBR Schmitt

I guess it depends on what type of fever dream LOL -Sam

Jeffrey Miller

Videodrome is directed by the same guy who did The Fly

TBR Schmitt

I saw that and it made me more afraid of how disgusting it might be haha -Sam

Luetin

The 88 one is actually pretty good for a variety of reasons, worth a watch.

Luetin

So many great choices on this poll, would be great to see whatever places 1st and 2nd get a watch.

Ian

Oh so the one in the poll is a remake ?

Brad P

Along with The Thing and The Fly, the 1978 Invasion of the Body Snatchers is one of the all-time great remakes.

Tostito Buddy

If Slither doesn't win this poll, I won't do anything at all. But I will be very disappointed in all of you.

dieselbeast

I don't think I've ever heard of any of these movies lmao good lord lol/(I pride myself on Knowing pop culture/classic great films) eh whoever wishes to comment on my comment I'll give you my vote 🤷 (except for cabin fever/I do know of that movie)

Paul Cox

Yeah, the original Blob is from 1958 and stars a very fresh-faced Steve McQueen.

Paul Cox

Cronenberg was THE go-to body horror director for a long time (arguably still is).

Ellie Williams

Poor Sam. She and the baby will be subjected to much fear and grossness.

Smooticus

Had to give a vote to Videodrome. It hasn't aged very well in some areas - mostly technology has moved way past which does impact the story somewhat, but James Wood's psychotic breaks (especially when he loses his gun) are fantastic. Debbie Harry (of Blondie fame) is actually pretty good in this

Tostito Buddy

Even if it doesn't win, we'll know deep inside that our table is the cool table.

Tostito Buddy

Have to disagree on that. For Eraserhead, there are several substances you can take that beat out sleep deprivation for the title of "Best way to watch it"

Steve Mercier

There's no way in hell Slither is going to win, but Slither all the way!

kbobravo

There's no better body horror than Videodrome.

mgUltra

Re-Animator, Videodrome, and Eraserhead are all so great. I doubt any of them will win, which is a shame.

Tostito Buddy

you didn't say the first person, so throw down another vote for Slither buddy.

Tostito Buddy

If Sam goes into labor during one of these reactions, you guys better finish the damn movie before going to the hospital.

Robin

Difficult between some of these options but for now: You habe to see the 78 version of Body Snatchers. It's the best in the genre!

Robert Boyd

Okay, so 1978’s IOTBS is straight up brilliant, released a couple months after John Carpenter’s masterpiece HALLOWEEN. One of the few times a remake is better than the original. I hope it wins the poll. I so love spooky season!

Ken Veader

Can't really go wrong with any of these choices. Nice to see some Giallo (Italian Horror) films being represented.

Michael Buhl

Tough call. I voted for Invasion of the Body Snatchers, but I could have easily gone with Eraserhead or Videodrome.

TBR Schmitt

LOL we’ll be keeping comments in mind for the rest of the months selections! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

LOL baby will be here before October! 😂 -Sam

Angel Pagan

How many can we vote on?

f hf

Invasion of the Body Snatchers is one of those movies I've never seen but have always wanted a reason to see it LOL

Mr. Writhms

A horror movie that features terrifying transformation, disfigurement or mutilation of the human body. "The Fly" (1986) is a good example.

Mr. Writhms

"The Blob" and "Slither" are masterclasses in practical effects. I'd put them up against "The Thing" (1982) any day.

ShadowVessel π

I think Slither could have been in the comedy horror category. Could just be Nathan Fillion, though. Lol

Nismo

Glad to see "The Blob" doing well in the poll. Better than I thought! Hopefully it will be watched one day!

Mike Miner

The Blob has a pretty interesting place in film history as Frank Darabont wrote the screenplay before he went on to direct Shawshank!

Tostito Buddy

OK, that's lucky. Now you won't have to hold it.

Natureboy Sugaray

I truly believe none of the other iconic boogeymen have a higher body count than Pin Head's

DM DC

Them's fightin words! LOL just kidding. But The Blob and Slither are really great!

William 1611

I voted for "The Blob" and "Suspiria," both of which are superior to their original incarnations., and for the wonderful "Slither." But, really, you two wonderful, lovable, brilliant people can't avoid "Eraserhead" forever. To say that it's unique is like saying Mozart had an ear for a pretty tune!

Mark M

Did Daniel make this list? I noticed that Eight Legged Freaks(2002) is conveniently missing:)

TBR Schmitt

Who is Pin Head? Like which film? LOL -Sam

TBR Schmitt

LOL he did not but we have both seen Eight Legged Freaks! Such a great film haha -Sam

Robert Sackrider

To anyone who voted ‘Street Trash’ thank you, you’re awesome.

Smooticus

Long live the new flesh

Jeff B.

It deserves more love. As does 'From Beyond'. And throw in 'Society'.

Natureboy Sugaray

Pin Head is the "big bad" in the Hellraiser franchise

Birdie Num Num

Cronenberg still making body horror at age 79(Crimes of the Future last year). Shame he's doing so poorly in the poll(going by some of the comments, there seem to be a lot of young patrons here). The Brood and Videodrome are must see's, and he also made these other body horrors - Dead Ringers, Crash(1997), Rabid, Existenz)

Birdie Num Num

A French body horror called Titane is pretty wild. Won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 2021. Its on Hulu.

William 1611

Daniel? What about Sam? I realized my dreadful error after I posted . . . perhaps they should postpone "Eraserhead" until after the Blessed Event!

Skyler Thomas

Feel like Eraserhead is the movie every new parent should see :-)

chris brown

A couple of months after

OddThomas

I saw The Blob as a kid and it really messed me up. Very gory.

OddThomas

Why not the original Suspiria? Have you seen it already? It's far better than the remake.

David Wilkins

As above, I recommend the original Susperia (1977) as well, even though I’m not generally a fan of the horror genre. It’s Italian made but English language, by the legendary Dario Argento. It’s rather a cult classic. Doesn’t appear so far that the 2018 version is going to win anyway, so you might want to keep the original in mind for a future list.

Neal Romanek

Cronenberg is the body horror guys - see Dead Ringers, The Brood and Scanners for a start (and Videodrome). Most people won't have seen The Brood, so it doesn't have many votes, but its a quintessential Cronenberg mindbender and an early example of what they call today "elevated horror".
