Shaula's eye reaction when told not to hurt them has my mind racing on whether that's an I don't trust you glare, or a reprogramming reaction...this is GOOD

I think this episode pretty much fully confirms that Re:Zero's world is very much linked and/or influenced by Subaru's original world. And I think it's as good as confirmed that he's not the first visitor. Just speculating though, I have no clue what the source materials says.

Funny you should mention The Eminence in Shadow. As it happens, Shaula's voice is Fairuz Ai, the voice of Delta, one the funniest among the Seven Shadows (the one that is like a big, clingy dog girl). Shaula said she "recognized" Subaru by smell, which in this case means it was the Witch's Misasma that is always clinging to him. Considering the way the test went plus the above fact, three things can be inferred: 1. Fluegel was an Earthling like Subaru. 2. He too was covered in the Witch's Miasma (maybe all otherworlders are, though with Al being the only other one we've met besides Subaru it's hard to tell, since he keeps quiet all the time). 3. Combining Earth knowledge and the Witch's Miasma, he rigged things so that Shaula would recognize the next Earthling that managed to reach the tower as her next "master", since only someone with Earth knowledge would be able to figure out stuff about the names of constelations and stars. Of course, because of the harsh conditions, it makes it super hard for others to get to the tower and pass its tests (an Earthling covered in Witch's Miasma with niche knowledge in astronomy). This tells us that Fluegel was one hell of a character and that he wanted to protect whatever secrets were in the tower under as many obscure conditions as possible while still allowing for them to be obtainable under the right conditions. Mind you, this is all me theorizing, since I've yet to see more than hints about this within the source material, a testament to Nagatsuki-sensei's master crarft and his implied context-heavy masterpiece. Once again, your ReZero Incoming Trauma sense is as sharp as ever, but I won't tell you what you got painfully right because a) it would be a spoiler, and b) I so want to see your face when your predictions (yes, predictions) come true. Trust in the cruelty of ReZero to come at you from the worst possible angle you couldn't imagine. Also, does anyone understand the "Monolith" reference made by Subaru? It's from a really famous Sci-fi movie (the famous quote from the movie is: "It's full of Stars").

Kody Tiffany

Now to find the book Kody Tiffany. Wonder what its about.

"then why did you shoot?" the question you immediately asked after she said why she did it was just too funny. Thank god Subaru repeats her answer.

So this episode gave me a lot of questions. Why does Shaula shake her hips like that when Subaru presses her face to the side? Why did Meilie say this is getting very bouncy when riding on top of Shaula? And some lesser important. Why is the riddle one that only earthlings would know the answer to since those are earth constellations? One that, coincedentally, Subaru can answer without a problem, to the point that, if it where him, he would chose Rigel.
