What I was wondering when watching the episode is... what if Subaru dies there and spawns a book and Emilia reads it? Sometimes the anime did show a little bit right after Subaru was killed, like Emilia turning around near the end of season 1 when Subaru turns into Sloth and asks Julius to kill him (I'm not counting the trial from season 2 because those post-death bits might not be real).

I'll leave you with a quote from the movie 'Minority Report' (2002): "Careful, Chief. When you dig up the past... all you get is dirty". Typhon's past as the Witch of Pride just proven my point. And it's not as if Subaru read/experienced the whole thing. He actually recoiled out of Typhon's past before he arrived to her death. Also, regarding your question about "what qualifies as death?": this is just my theory, but I think that it means "to lose one's living vessel". Again, Typhon prooves this, since she isn't technically "dead", her soul is simply 'trapped' inside the tomb together with the other Witches. From this, one could infer that even Echidna (the og) has a book in there. But... are they really able to endure the experience of looking at their past? Truly, as Subaru and Emilia pointed out, the creator of the Tower and its tests is a colossal prick.

Finally you meet Stick Swinger. The man that can slay the current sword saint. possibly in 5 minutes or less (based off a 1 v1 fight). A man that just needs to swing a stick to win... every battle they are in. This is how powerful I feel they are. That was the impression I got from the LN because you have seen his potential opponents. Sword Saint is clearly not here or going to be here. So the solution to this floor is epicness that is built towards. I love this arc for the 2 things introduced this episode. Stick Swinger and the Books of the Dead. Only that 2nd can I say nothing more about without spoiling.
