The fact that even Rimuru was fooled by his brainwashing, all being an act...You can't call Mariabell stupid, even Rimuru was fooled! Truly the best antagonist who has brilliantly and depressingly eliminated the second-best antagonist we have ever had..

Let me know what you thought of the episode!

There goes Dad, talking about freaking Digimon and Yu-Gi-Oh again... It's like comparing classic music with modern...

If it’s who I think (watching this tonight), I was pretty skeptical of him actually being brainwashed but yknow, if you’re convincing that’s quite the impressive feat to pull off

I honestly feel sorry for Marbel And oh Shit the child abuse is crazy this episode Rimuru beat the crap of a 10 year old and Yuuki killed a 10 year old

Honestly, if Rimuru would pay more attention, we could've gotten rid of Yuuki at this point. Rimuru talks down to Maribel, explaining that her unique skill is no threat whatsoever to his ultimate skills. Realises that Yuuki's anti-skill can negate all skill-effects and renders Rimuru's ultimate skills useless against Yuuki. Does not question how Yuuki could've possibly gotten captured by Maribel, even starts to assume that the "power of friendship" is what released Yuuki. To be fair, though, Yuuki did allow the powers of greed to buff him. But at that point, Rimuru probably should've realised that the whole "turning anti-skill On or Off" thing is probably a lie aswell. When it's on, it should logically negate all skills... but it only negates those that Rimuru uses. So it's most likely not that he can just turn it on or off, but rather that he can even adjust it. Otherwise it should've removed her influence on Yuuki when he used the ability against Rimuru. Lastly, I think the one most to blame here is probably Raphael. Thing is a quantum-giga-computer on steroids. Really should've cought on at this point and informed Rimuru, since we know that he's not the quickest on the uptake when left on his own.

you hit the nail on the head, he trusts Raphael 100% that if they say something he doesnt question it. kinda like putting too much faith in AI, had he had more human thoguht here he would have most likely elimanted his biggest threat

The anime simplified it but Anti-Skill can neutralize Kinetic Energy as well but it can't nullify both magic and physical attacks simultaneously. Also, fun fact, Rimuru created Storm Break by reverse engineering Hinata's Melt Slash (Hinata's art that combines Disintegration with sword play for a near-lightspeed strike). You know, Yuuki reminds me of a young All For One from MHA (especially in the now non-canon web novel version compared to the light novels) except instead of being in a world of Humans where his power reigns supreme Yuuki is in a world of gods and monsters where baseline Humans are near the bottom of the food chain.

There's more to it though. The anime really does a poor job explaining this, for the few times they actually mention it. Starting at the unique rank, skills are engraved into the soul. That is to say, if you have a unique skill, die, and are reincarnated, you will retain that unique skill. The exception being if your soul disperses instead of remaining intact, the skill waits in the queue until a new soul compatible with it appears, and by Tensura logic, that new soul will contain bits of, if not a majority of the previous soul that held that skill. It may not be obvious, but Raphael, once Great Sage, is genuinely a part of Rimuru's soul. And despite Raphael seemingly developing its own personality, it was originally a parallel fragment/existence of Rimuru's. It was born from Rimuru, it's Rimuru if it was born as a skill, it's Rimuru all the way down. It's like having an instant clone, as soon as the clone is born, your histories diverge. If you understand that, then it's not much of a stretch to consider that Raphael (as is Rimuru) are prone to overconfidence. Raphael has All of Creation, which allows it to comprehend all information flawlessly, unlesss some portion of it is secret (or more correctly, unknowable). It's a paradox thing. If Raphael detects the presence of information, it will comprehend it, thus if something is truly secret, it doesn't exist as far as Raphael is concerned. So from Raphael's perspective, it literally knows everything, ( unless it doesn't know it, lol). So Raphael is Rimuru, and Raphael is inherently overconfident, thus Rimuru is overconfident. And Rimuru is painfully aware of this fact, but it still catches him off-guard. It's this weakness that keeps Rimuru from being invincible.

Eh, she's a reincarnation of an old lady. If you consider her 10, then Rimuru is like 3 instead of mid 40s

OnePieceMan

In the manga, Yuuki straight up killing Maribel didn't sit well with me. Didn't sit very well with me here either. She might've been a naïve and evil little girl, but she was still an actual 10 year old girl. No reincarnation or memories from a previous life, but an actual 10 year old girl. Okay she was reincarnated and did have memories of a previous life. But it still made me uncomfortable.

While some people might have been spoiling, I've also seen people who I know are anime-only be convinced that he was faking from the moment him being controlled was shown in the show. So many in the comments saying that might have juat been saying what they believe without spoiling.
