FURIOUS The Hip-Hop Sommelier

Tougen Anki is a trashy delight. While the animation hasn’t been spectacular, it has translated the compelling manga storyline effectively. It is also the current anime that draws the worst reasonings and rationalising and equivocations from those who don’t like it. Firstly anime fans can’t stop trapping themselves in the cage of just describing it as a derivative shonen. The Blue Exorcist rip-off accusations are particularly stupid as TA flips the blue exorcist paradigm. Then, dismissals that characters are offensive like the creepy doctor, and thus the show is lesser for it, seem to ignore that there are problematic characters in most if not all demon-involved anime. I’ve seen deluded defenses of JJK up against Tougen Anki, as if one is significantly better than the other in anything other than MAPPA animation. The pleasures of Tougen Anki are trashy and plentiful: it’s cool for someone to say they don’t like and are not into it, but attempts to belittle or dismiss the show really belittle the hater more effectively than most show takedowns.

Ya it's always weird when in the same breath they tear it down they hype up something that does the things they seemingly hate in this lol

This is enjoyable enough to warrant covering! I enjoyed season 1
