No big news this time, folks.
Been working on the plot, which means I don't have anything to distract you with. Writing is an incredibly tedious, exhausting task that leaves me feeling utterly drained. And yet, through all the pain and tears, it has to be done. And properly done at that! Making the characters' feelings for each other believable, figuring out the connections between events, and bringing the whole thing to a satisfying resolution—all of this might seem like unnecessary crap for adult games. Still, being part of the audience myself, it's essential for me to stay invested in what's going on. Even if it's complete nonsense, that nonsense has to stick to its own world-building conventions. Otherwise, what's the point? Just play any of the GIFs and off you go?Another struggle I'm dealing with is my own verbosity. Ultimately, a game is meant to entertain, not dump a load of philosophical ramblings or lame jokes on the player. Many people, for example, found the encounters with Susan annoying, while they were my favorite parts—a psychological battle between the heroes. There's just one catch. During this battle, the player's holding a loaded gun in one hand and the mouse in the other. Miss a beat, and the whole vibe goes down the drain. Nobody would like that. I have to restrain myself and reveal the characters through story events. And more events always means more artwork, and more artwork takes more time. Simply put, it's all about balance. That's exactly what I'm struggling with right now. Finding the balance between beauty and common sense. There probably won't be any artworks for a couple of weeks, since I've already written and drawn everything for the first encounter with Miss Callahan. Stay tuned for the update!Talk to you soon. Kisses!
