Weekly Recap: June W4 (Patreon)

Welcome back Captain, all systems online.

Remember those fan concepts I created on the discord before joining the team last year? Well, one of those concepts has been brought through development into a near-finished product! How cool is that!!

I bid you welcome to the Barryfish, a clever play on the game’s already-existent Garryfish and one Barry B. Benson. These little angry dudes emulate bee-like behaviour and will protect a valuable new resource. Another resident of the Pearly Brine Pools, these little guys are right at home amongst the trees where they operate as swarms to protect their hives when angered. How do you suppose you’re meant to pilfer their spoils??

Onto the rest of the recap:

Modders have been working on the Hydra upgrade and perk systems, trying to make a manageable upgrade path that feels both rewarding and functional. We’re pushing for further development of our void editor, and are happy to report it is in a usable state, even if tedious.

Sound labs have been making all sorts of hydra sounds, from the elevators to the extendable beds and all sorts. We got some new tracks for void travel and further exploration of potential tracks for some of our spoiler-heavy biomes.

3D has finished a precursor tech model! One of the objectives for the gameplay of our mod is just getting textured before getting handed off for implementation, hopefully meaning we might be able to set up some game progression for a shard soon. Close to finalizing more flora, just awaiting implementation so we can double-check it works in the game environment as intended, and working on cool new sparkly rocks >:D

2D has had their foot on the gas pedal. Not only finalizing the Moon Skater concept and the concept for its biome but also doing phenomenal work filling out the biome with cool creatures and plants to bring it to life! We also finished a concept sketch of the bee swarms mentioned earlier.
