Hi everyone and welcome back from an eventful few days!Last week, a LOT of stuff happened.Unknown Worlds dropped the Subnautica 2 trailer announcing the game and early access. This raised a bunch of questions regarding the future of COTV and the team's motivations and timeline, which we'll answer further down in the post! Also, sorry for the late post, I forgot to press send last night xDBut first, we've made more improvements to the Hydra! We've implemented a "snapping" mechanic to the upgrade screen, making sure you can see it no matter where you acess it from! If you move far enough away or click outside it, you snap back to your normal camera. We've also implemented a "mini" Hydra that allows you to see your noise emission, as well as the current rotation and pitch/yaw of your submarine! (See attachments)This should hopefully help make the current angle of the sub clearer to the pilot and avoid confusion when turning! This is only one part of our ongoing efforts to make piloting the hydra as intuitive as possible, while allowing you to pull crazy manouvers to avoid your enemies or explore caves!Hopefully, you'll be able to give more feedback on this when the shard is released.Transferring the Hydras attributes is also complete now, so it shouldn't be too long before all features are integrated into the main mod. Hopefully, you can soon get your hands on the submarine yourself! Now, let's talk Subnautica 2.We've been aware the next Subnautica game would come out in 2025 for quite some time. This does NOT mean we're giving up on Call of the Void, or rushing it to get it out before SN2 drops in Early Access. We think there are plenty of reasons to still play SN1, and we want to tell a story on Planet 4546b.While the release of the next game might take some attention away from our project, we're still commited to it and believe people will still be interested when we fully release it. However, the trailer did release sooner than we anticipated and we do not believe that Call of the Void will be complete before the start of early access for Subnautica 2. We are a small dev team working on the mod as a hobby, and cannot and don't even want to compete with Unkown Worlds. We'll release Call of the Void when it's ready, and when it's an amazing experience to get lost in.Thanks for supporting us this far and see you next week! ❤️
