Within the Dark Ocean

For the first time in as long as the Bloodliner of the Azure Dragon can remember, he feels fear.

Fear at the sight of the outsider’s wounds healing at a visible pace. Fear at the endless swarms of her summons attacking him and returning whenever he destroys them, despite her severely wounded state.

And fear from the sheer strength in her as she keeps him pinned to her. Unable to escape as he feels her venom entering his body, with her servants all attacking from every direction.

All of this makes him feel genuinely terrified. Not just at the fear, but the fact that he’s feeling fear in the first place.

He, the Bloodliner born to rule this planet, is feeling fear towards an outside usurper.

The terror grows more and more until he finally begins to feel his mind turning to panic.

So he activates his last resort.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Around the Dark Ocean

All of the people near the Dark Ocean feel fear as they sense the shockwaves coming from within the dreaded ocean. Meanwhile the Guildmasters all feel tense thanks to what they saw on the notification that was sent across the world.

Because that notification admitted that the person they believed to be the strongest hunter on the planet wasn’t actually originally from their planet. And now that very alien is considered to be the owner of their planet by the System.

But that’s not all as every last one of them sees the shift in the leaderboards. Showing another person appearing on the leaderboards out of nowhere in second place.

Someone named Arnold Vlatta.

There isn’t a single one of the Guildmasters who doesn’t recognize the name of the leader of the clans. And just the sight of his name appearing while the Dark Ocean is still throwing out shockwaves despite the monster in there likely having been defeated judging by Aqua’s rapid level-up session has the Guildmasters coming to a simple conclusion.

The leader of the clans is currently fighting against the outsider who has taken control of their planet in the eyes of the System.

Yet, despite knowing this, the Guildmasters don’t know who to support.

An outsider who has treated them well and saved them numerous times, or a native who has ignored them entirely and even threatened them in the past.

But before they can think about this for long, a massive wave of greenish purple-tinted water rushes out from the Dark Ocean. Pushing out thousands of the servants the outsider uses in battle, along with both the outsider and the clan leader. With the two entangled with their claws digging into each other, and the outsider having holes torn clean through her body.

She’s not the only one who is severely injured though, since the clan leader has scales ripped off all over his body along with trails of venom flowing through his veins. And on top of all that, he also has several large wounds from where Aqua dug into him.

Then the Guildmasters and other people watching see Aqua’s servants vanishing before reappearing all around her except for one that rushes straight at the two and attacks the clan leader.

The Guildmasters who are more familiar with Aqua feel surprised at the sight of the powerful servant. Since they’ve never seen one so powerful.

And this one is using magical skills and creating tentacles of darkness.

Tentacles that are familiar to them since they’re the same tentacles that attacked from the Dark Ocean.

It doesn’t take long for them to realize this is the servant summoned from the monster Aqua entered the Dark Ocean to kill.

But none of that matters to them as much as seeing the poisoned water flooding out of the clan leader.

Poison that matches exactly with the poison filling the Viridian Ocean.

After seeing that, the last of their hesitation goes away, and they begin moving to stop anyone from assisting the clan leader.

Because they’ve finally found the source of the poison that they’ve always wanted to eliminate.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aqua

Okay, I really should’ve seen this coming. Assassins often have poison after all. It just feels right.

Also, this poison looks very familiar. Specifically, it looks and feels identical to the poison filling the Viridian Ocean.

My thoughts go back to when I was told that the poison in the Viridian Ocean most likely originated from some unknown monster.

So… that unknown monster was actually just this Bloodliner?

That’s a surprise twist.

[so this Bloodliner has been polluting his own planet with poison?]

[That’s hilarious.]

[**** that Bloodliner! Kill him Aqua!]

[I wonder what this guy’s story even is? Wasn’t he supposed to be some hidden clan leader on this planet? And yet he’s poisoning the planet?]

[ridiculous]

[LMFAO! Even the natives are turning their backs on him!]

I frown slightly at that last message as pain floods me from both his attacks and his poison, only to barely glance at the surroundings to find us having been thrown out of the Dark Ocean into the regular ocean. And now that we’re out here, I see several people rushing towards us, seemingly trying to attack me. Just for them to be blocked by the Guildmasters and members of the various Hunter Guild branches.

Ah. I think I understand what’s happening.

The Guildmasters must have realized that the Azure Dragon Bloodliner is the source of the poison that’s caused them so many problems over the years.

Which makes me wonder just how long this guy has been awakened as a Bloodliner. Since, theoretically someone could awaken their Bloodline the moment they’re born, or after a dangerous life or death struggle where they almost die. It’s just that it’s only happened once in the entire Alliance’s history.

Although, if he did awaken before the System, then he wouldn’t be in the System and wouldn’t be able to level up. So he’d just be stuck with his initial traits.

My thoughts quickly hyperfocus on the Bloodliner again as he starts trying hard to tear chunks out of my body, and successfully manages to rip my arm off. Making me feel even more pain flooding me.

But at this point, I’ve grown a lot more used to pain than I’d like to admit. Hence how I’m able to withstand all of the pain from the various holes in my body.

That doesn’t mean I like it though. And in return for his tearing off my arm, I manage to stab more tentacles into his body and flood him with more venom. Enough that he’s starting to grow sluggish.

I grit my teeth so hard I hear grinding sounds coming from them, meanwhile I continue to tear away at the Bloodliner. Injecting as much venom as possible into him with every strike.

When the Bloodliner tries to move his head to chomp down on my other shoulder, I use both Light of the Abyss and Abyssal Reversal in tandem on him. Further weakening his mind while also reversing his movements.

And as I do this, I quickly realize something.

Abyssal Reversal seems to work a lot better after weakening the target’s mind. Because he instantly turns his head in the opposite direction, exposing his neck for me to strike in the process. When before there wouldn’t be anywhere near as strong of an effect from Abyssal Reversal.

Both me and my abyssal servants strike at the opening before finding the Bloodliner’s neck to be a lot weaker than the rest of its body. Specifically a single spot on the bottom of its neck around its throat where it has a scale that is flipped.

A reverse scale.

I can’t help but grin, albeit tensely from the pain, as my remaining claw pierces straight through the reverse scale and floods the Bloodliner with more and more venom. All the way until he finally begins to shrink and returns to his humanoid form.

Likely no longer able to sustain his transformed state.

And now he doesn’t look much better than me with plenty of holes in his own body, along with my venom.

The only thing balancing our exchange out is his poison that’s slowly eating away at me.

But at this point, I feel confident.

I will win.

And I will get a Bloodliner as an abyssal servant.
