Somewhere in the Quantum Realm

The Quantum Balancer feels freedom for the first time in as long as he can remember. True, genuine, freedom.

And what exactly does he plan to do with that freedom?

Revenge.

Pure and simple.

Zorblax clearly remembers every last grievance against him that he couldn’t settle all these years because of the Universe’s Will shackling him with those chains. But now he can get revenge against everyone who has wronged him.

Starting with the ones above him in the former hierarchy before said hierarchy shattered with the Universe’s Will.

Each one of them has given him orders he couldn’t refuse over the years.

The original Quantum Architect is no longer alive, but even the new one has given him orders. Specifically the orders to stay out of his System’s territory. Completely blocking him from the majority of the mortal universe with the exception of when he was doing his job.

All because of the complaints of vermin. Of the mortals in the universe.

And the rules of the universe itself.

The Quantum Enforcer has directly punished Zorblax several times as well. Bringing him just as high on the chart for revenge as the Architect.

And while the Builder and Creator haven’t given him anywhere near as many orders, the mere fact that they’ve given him at least one order before grates strongly on his nerves. So they’re targets as well.

Zorblax won’t stop until he has paid everyone back for everything they’ve done to him.

The only thing he regrets is that he wasn’t able to personally get revenge on the Quantum Ruler. Not in a way that would satisfy him.

But the Ruler has already been broken. So there’s nothing he can do about that.

While he’s thinking about all of this, the Quantum Balancer suddenly feels a strange sensation. Almost like something copied him and he should go see.

So he waves his hand to force the quantum energy around him to form screens showcasing a battle. One where a woman with horns and a scythe is fighting against an older version of Zorblax.

The Quantum Balancer narrows his eyes as he sees yet another target for his revenge. Albeit one lower down on the list as her only offense so far is being a mortal who claimed a spot amongst them.

A spot above him at that.

But she’s never given him an order, nor has he ever met her.

And while she was supposedly given a role to fight the other Quantum Beings, the Balancer can’t imagine her ever being a threat to him.

She’s a mere former mortal after all.

So after watching her being killed by his older self once, he closes the screen and begins to plan out his first revenge plan.

Starting with his revenge against the Quantum Enforcer. Because, while being barred from the mortal universe was a massive headache, that was all the younger Architect has done.

While the Enforcer has repeatedly punished him over countless years.

Now… how to plan this out…

Alexia

Well, damn. That was unpleasant.

My first battle with the Quantum Balancer wasn’t even much of a battle by the time I find myself dying. Even with my Ascendant Tier skill.

I can definitely understand why Zal said I should wait until I was an Ascendant before trying the other trials.

The Quantum Balancer threw off all of my senses and instincts during the battle with his balancing act. He set up traps all over the battlefield, and if I ever got close to his little rift, he’d close it and appear somewhere else.

And when I finally managed to drag him out of his rift to actually fight?

I realized it was just a random person with an illusion covering himself to look like the Quantum Balancer.

Then hundreds of other rifts with different Quantum Balancers lazing about in them opened up after that. Making me finally understand that he wasn’t teleporting the rift around at my arrival.

He was just closing and opening different rifts.

What’s worse is that all of the people he possessed during the battle had quantum energy. So I couldn’t even tell which one was the real Quantum Balancer.

And even if I could tell, there’s the issue that he could probably just jump bodies if I found him.

So now, as I glare at the Quantum Balancer back in the first part of the trial again, I can’t help but feel genuine dislike burning in me for him. Which isn’t something I’m used to.

Normally I don’t really care about someone outside of family strong enough to feel that. Although I’ve noticed I’ve grown more emotional recently, so maybe that’s why.

But I genuinely am starting to strongly dislike this asshole.

To make matters worse?

He was mocking me during the entire third part of the trial.

Straight up openly mocking me while laughing.

And he didn’t seem to consider me an opponent at all. More like a toy to play with.

At one point he even openly called me vermin. A mere rat mortal playing with a real quantum being.

Which definitely goes to show just what sort of person the Quantum Balancer is.

I can’t see a reality where I don’t end up fighting him outside of this trial based off that alone.

And my irritation is only growing as I watch him conduct his little antics through the first and second part of the trial again. With him being even more ruthless in the first part of the trial this time than he was last time.

What surprises me is that it’s an entirely different instance of him balancing the universe in a different location with different people.

Even a completely different type of balancing, with him dealing with people who were corrupted by the Corrupted One this time, just like that vampire lord was that I fought.

I take a deep breath as the second part of the trial begins to draw to a close. Then I let it out and enter the third part of the trial again.

This time I know how he does things.

So even if I die in this attempt, I should at least see more than the last time.

This is going to be a fight for real it's not going to be easy for her.

Should probably be a younger version, not older? Or a past version?
