Ashley

Huh. Well that’s a curious sight.

♢ Argos Thunder – Level 750 Thunder Giant – 4327 Potential Skills – X ♢

A very curious sight.

This guy is at the max level for Class C, clearly ready to advance to Class B at any time. And despite not being a Successor, he has more Potential Skills than anyone I have ever seen before.

Of course, quantity isn’t always quality. Just look at myself for example. The Unique Skill Trees I have are far greater than any number of regular Skill Trees I have on top of them.

So, while Potential Skills is a way to judge people by, it’s not absolute.

Unique Monsters make that perfectly clear with their set in stone number of one hundred Potential Skills each.

Anyway, his name sounds familiar for some reason…

“He’s a royal,” Chaos quietly mentions in my mind.

Ah. Right. That’s probably why his name is familiar.

But this guy is a thunder giant?

I narrow my eyes slightly while looking at him. Finding the guy to look like a regular human being. Albeit with lightning sparking off of his skin, long golden hair, and glowing gold eyes.

Sure he’s a good bit taller than I am, but most guys are, so that’s nothing new.

He doesn’t look anything like a giant.

Even his outfit practically screams royalty, considering how extravagant it is. It’s clearly made out of very high end materials, with a bright golden color mixed with blue lining on his armor and the thin robe over said armor.

I continue sitting at the edge of my lawn chair as I lean forward a little, placing my elbows on my knees.

“Lady Ashley, Successor of the Primordial of Chaos and the Princess of the Tower of Chaos,” the prince declares with a slight bow, sweeping one arm out in front of him. “I am the Sixth Prince of the Thunder Mountain, Argos Thunder, son of the Mountain King.” He rises back to his full height again. “A pleasure to meet you.”

Huh. How so very fancy.

“You as well, Prince Argos,” I answer him, deciding to be a little bit more formal than normal. Strictly because it would feel awkward to respond to him with a casual ‘you too’ and a wave after all that.

The prince’s lips quirk upwards ever so slightly as the lightning around him crackles and destroys each and every snowflake that gets near him. Showing that the guy seems to be rather excited for our upcoming battle.

And I can tell he’s prepared to battle.

That much is obvious.

After a moment of silence as the snow falls around us and more water freezes to ice amongst my Winter Domain spell, a slightly higher level ice magic spell that spreads my ice mana – or energy in my case – around my surroundings. Gradually turning the area into a wintery domain of ice and snow.

Of course, since it’s still a more basic version of the Ice Domain spell, it’s not exactly hard for another mage to counter if they’re more skilled than me. But mine does at least have the advantage of using my eternal snow attributed ice energy instead of regular ice mana.

I mostly just realized after a while of fishing that I could go about it this way instead. That this method is a lot easier and faster at killing fish than the last one was.

The only downside is that it gives away my position to other hunters. But that’s fine since I can get fish from the other hunters after killing them.

I’ve actually already killed several hunters this way. Turned them into frozen statues.

Ones whose vitality were eventually completely drained away by the ice.

Still. What bothers me is the leaderboards.

And I can’t help but feel slightly irritated by the guy in front of me despite not having any actual grudges against him.

Four Quarters Fishing Leaderboards

1. Azaryth Valecrown

2. Argos Thunder

3. Ashley Chaos

4. Aralan Argol

5. Diana Reltfel

6. Rellatia Cove

7. Noura Al-Farsi

8. Alric Dawnspire

9. Ysara Moonveil

10. Valethra Ash Dominion

…

All because he’s above me on the leaderboards. Which hasn’t ever happened in an Official System Event before. Having someone ahead of me on a leaderboard.

What’s worse is that there are two people ahead of me and not just one.

Maybe I’ve become a bit spoiled after getting first place for so long, but it’s irritating to see.

More than that though, it’ll be nice to add this second placer’s fish to my haul and shoot straight up to first through that.

I’m sure he’s thinking the same as the lightning around him begins to crackle more and more.

“I’ve been looking forward to this,” Argos declares. “Are you ready?”

I feel a little surprised that he’s straight up asking me if I’m ready, but I go ahead and nod my head while climbing to my feet and dismissing all of my clones. Since the clones are far too weak to be of any help in this battle.

Then lightning begins to shoot out of the man’s body as his body grows larger and larger. Eventually reaching at least a dozen meters in height.

Which certainly explains the whole ‘thunder giant’ species name thing.

I can’t help but smirk slightly as I decide to test out my new form in battle. And, under his slightly astonished gaze, I perform my own transformation. Turning into a large tigress that looks just like the Tiger of Eternal Snow. Just a little smaller.

And the moment I finish my transformation, the snow around us begins to kick up into a blizzard instead.

A side effect of my transformation that is strongly enhancing the Winter Domain spell.

The lightning of the thunder giant crackles as it fights against the snow and ice from my blizzard. Meanwhile the water around us grows more and more turbulent as chunks of it freeze, snow lands and covers the top of the water, and lightning strikes the water to evaporate parts of it and also spread electricity into it.

Of course, all the fish anywhere nearby have already long since been dead to my spell. So there aren’t any additional fish casualties to add from this.

But it’s a rather cool sight to say the least.

What surprises me the most about this, though, is the fact that the prince is managing to stop all of my eternal snow from touching him thanks to his lightning. And even my Gaze of Destruction, which is still active even in this form despite my crimson eyes looking rather out of place amongst my snow-white fur, ends up being stopped at some sort of strange barrier.

“This, young Ashley, is an item meant to protect its user from True Damage,” Chaos says, his words echoing through my head. “Fight well and prove your power to those impudent little royals. Prove that you’re more than a regular Successor.”

I feel more than a little surprised by Chaos’ words. Specifically because he’s never actually asked me to prove anything before.

Maybe the upper royalty of the universe don’t actually find me threatening or something? And he wants to prove my power to them?

Well, either way, doesn’t change my plans.

I let out a loud roar, making the eternal snow around me grow denser and denser as the blizzard picks up. Building up frost and ice on both of our ships and beginning to push the lightning back towards the prince.

But he doesn’t just sit there either as he slams his gauntleted fists together, making more lightning spark from them before the clouds above us begin to rumble. Then lightning crashes down from them to strike at both me and the prince.

And while my eternal snow defends against the lightning through the sheer density of the blizzard, the lightning that strikes him seems to empower the man. Rushing through his body and making him grow even larger in the process.

I can’t help but grin a little at the sight. Because it’s probably the first real one on one battle I’ve had against another user in a while where I wasn’t just overwhelming them.

This might be fun.
